Retro Stripes Under $50

Oh hey, Spring. There you are trying to peek through. (Is #thanksbutnothanksphil a thing yet?) The temps are still cold here, but we’ve gotten some sunshine this week, you guys! It’s giving me life (literally, I guess, but, yeah…) Anyway…it’s making this lover of black and gray and all things neutral embrace some color! I know. But, we all need some brightness right now. Why was the jump into Daylight Savings Time so intense this year? There’s not enough coffee in Portland…BUT it appears color is saving the day. Color and, more specifically, fun stripes! They’re classic and retro, and honestly a nice update from my black turtleneck sweater I’ve been living in. Let’s check out the fun.

The Sweater

This little number is adorbs —soft and a great, a flattering length with high-waisted denim. I love the sporty color combo and the chevron stripes. It’s cotton, so it’s perfect for the warmers days to come. I’m digging the retro vibe with the modern shape. So cute.

Bold & budget-friendly? Both are perfect for Spring. The 1970s-style stripes in Walmart's casual collection are giving us LIFE — just enough color for NOW.

And let’s not forget to mention that beautiful bag. That color. I love the combo of a classic bag and sporty stripes, mixed with, yes, of course, some animal print. These mules are comfy and stylish. They’re selling quickly it seems, so these are similar and also cute.

JeansWilliam Rast Super High Waist Skinny Jeans – Super high-waisted for a flattering look! True to size for a curve-hugging fit. Size up if in between. Wearing a 27. I have them tucked under, but they have a raw hem, easy for trimming to the right length for you.

ShoesDesign Lab Viola Animal Print Mules or these are adorable, too. I’m typically an 8, but was able to wear a 7.5 in these. The second pair linked fit TTS.

Pink BagKarl Lagerfield Iris Leather Tote – So springy and pretty. I love combining a classic style bag with fun sporty stripes. The peach shade is just slightly darker in person — and lovely.

LipstickRevlon Lipstick Wine With Everything – This shows brighter on me than on the website. It’s one of my favorite reds for spring. Also through the same link is another long-time fav, Rum Raisin.

The Tee

Love love this top, you guys. Soft, fun and flattering. Never mind that it was freezing that day. I love it! The little red bag is actually my first foray into structured clutches (Shana, are you proud?) and I think it’s adorable. It adds a great pop of color to the ensemble. And it wouldn’t be me without some graphic element, so star earrings and rose gold slides with stars it is. I’m wearing those beauties around the house all the time right now. They are my new favorite things.

I love that our ever-convenient Walmart is carrying some really great pieces through it’s partnership with Lord & Taylor. Right now a ton of those pieces are 20% off, too! (And free shipping and returns on qualifying orders!) I was stoked to find the super-cute stuff I’m wearing here, and you can see above the other fabulous colorful items that will give you life right now, as well. It’s fun to be able to mix the higher-end pieces with the reasonably priced slides and accessories to create a complete look. I had a blast putting these outfits together.

What colors are getting you through right now? If we keep getting these sunny days, y’all, I might just make it. Here’s to coffee and sunshine!

xo,

A big thank you to Walmart for sponsoring this colorful post. I am continually so impressed with the fun offerings they have each season through both Lord & Taylor and their in-house brands. As usual, all thoughts, opinions and giant smiley laughs are all my own.

Meet Laura! She's a reader turned contributor and we couldn't be happier to have her as part of the team. Her fun, creative style is, as she says, "somewhere between Madewell and Joan Jett" (YES.) and she delivers some mean dressing room selfies so keep an eye out for those. Fun fact? She loves getting her hair cut and we love to see what she has up her sleeve.

  1. Hey ladies! Love your blog so much. You’ve helped me find some go-to pieces and to feel more confident in pushing style boundaries.

I’ve noticed you are doing more sponsored content, and I appreciate that you share that it’s sponsored at the very end. It would be great if there were some indiction at the top as to who sponsored it. Frankly, walmart isn’t an organization I feel comfortable buying from, and I’m a bit disappointed to see you partnering with them. I’d rather have known at the outset and skipped this article altogether.

Thanks, and keep up the great work!
