LOFT has always been one of those go-to places for spring try-ons for me. They have a great mix of casual and work-appropriate separates that always mix and match well and are offered at reasonable price points. I typically have fun trying on a bunch of stuff in store, but decided to just do a mini order this spring highlighting a few favorites.
A LOFT Mini Capsule Wardrobe For Spring
Here you’ll find some great striped tops for spring, a really cute dress, a great black midi skirt and a few other pieces I threw in for styling. Oh and don’t miss out on the really great clog sandals for a steal of a price! (Most of those things range in the hundreds of dollars.)
It was so fun to get out of sweats and try on some warmer weather pretties! Let’s check ’em out.
Springy Striped Tops
This lightweight, slightly fuzzy sweater (wearing a small) is totes adorable. Love! It is an item you can still find in petite and plus sizes (see my mini rant below on that though.) These clog sandals were a happy surprise. They’re so comfy (if you’re used to wooden clogs) and run true to size. The upper is suede and soft right out of the box. I steer clear of leather uppers because they take a while to break in.
I didn’t love the jeans I tried from LOFT (you’ll see them below) so I threw in some of my old time favs, the Madewell Slim Boyjean. (FYI, you can find a few jeans like mine here on eBay ooh or just discovered these at Nordstrom!)
This top is what got me started on a little LOFT try out session. So cute! It’s hard to tell online, but it’s a puckered fabric. Nice and lightweight but also structured and flattering. So cute. Probably one of my top picks from the whole bunch. True to size. I’m wearing a small here. I wish I had thought to try it with the midi skirt! I wanted to make it a little more ‘me’ and tried this look with my favorite white high-tops. I don’t hate it! The mules above are more expected but I kinda like the feminine top with the sporty/edgy sneakers.
This boatneck top is definitely a classic. It’s a thicker cotton (kinda like Rugby shirts) and super cute. I was still able to get it to knot though, which is how I love to wear most of my tees with higher waisted bottoms. I have a shorter middle section and this helps highlight my waist. This would be so versatile and is cute with everything from white jeans to blue jeans, and layered under a denim shirt or with a skirt (see below.) Again, true to size, wearing a small here.
I didn’t love the LOFT jeans above. They’re very comfy but the wash isn’t my vibe. It looks too whiskered in person. But if you are having trouble finding a comfy jean and this wash speaks to you, they are worth a try! Wearing a 28.
This Adorable Midi Skirt
Oh man, who knew this would be so cute! Love. This midi skirt is ribbed and has a substantial feel without being heavy. Sorry black is so hard to see details on, but it’s got a decently wide waistband that nicely stays put and as a reminder I’m 5’4″, so it would be just below the knees on some of you. I love that you can kind of inch it up or down a little for a variation in the look/length. It’s sitting about 2″-ish inches under my knotted top here. What a cute French-inspired look. I’m so down for it with my new tiny ponytail these days. Haha. I tried it below with my favorite James Perse tee and Van slip-ons, for a more casual vibe, too.
A Really Flattering Dress
Oh hey, super cute dress…super cute dresses often elude me because I don’t often wear them and seem to be in between sizes SO many times. This is a 6 Petite and it’s perfect (sometimes petite doesn’t quite work on me.) This and the cute clogs went into my wardrobe. I’ll be throwing on a moto jacket and some sneakers with this at some point, too, for funsies. I think what works so well is that slit in the knee. The shape is obviously great, but a little slit makes it even more leg-lengthening on a shorter frame. LOVE!
PJs That Seem Cute, But I’m Not So Sure About
The shape and fit of these pajamas are super cute. I’m just not sure I’m a sherbet stripes kinda gal. They’re super soft and if orange is your color, they’re so happy and summery! I wish they’d offer them in another color. They do have shorts and a long sleeve top in similar navy stripes. Let’s bring on more tank top pj sets though, brands. What a great combo I don’t see often enough.
Shop Spring Outfit Pieces At LOFT
I will say, while they still have a few things available, after ordering and trying on the above pieces, I was frustrated to see LOFT is pulling their plus sized options soon. As we all strive to be more inclusive across the board, it’s a shame that many clothing companies aren’t consulting those who have insight into designing for all sizes and insight into successfully representing all customers in their stores. Please do better, LOFT, et al.
Until next time…
