Thank you to lululemon and ShopStyle for sponsoring this post.
Linzi has been looking for a pair of “not tight workout pants” for years. And I get it: I end up living in my workout gear all day long. I usually put on workout clothes first thing in the morning — this first, thoughtless step is the best way to ensure I squeeze in a workout — but after all-day wear…leggings sometimes start to bug.
lululemon Has The Unicorn Leggings & Joggers I’ve Been Looking For
So imagine my happy dance when lululemon reached out and I realized — after a brief try-on sesh — that NOT ONLY do they make leggings that basically feel like…nothing…but lululemon also makes a pair of pants that is best described (according to me, anyway), as “loose leggings”.
Which are exactly the unicorn pants Linzi and I have been looking for all these years.
lululemon’s Align Pant II
Let’s begin with those absolutely weightless leggings, shall we? In my head, I have started mentally referring to lululemon’s Align Pants as my ‘skin leggings’. Which sounds horrible, I know!!! But it does give a pretty clear indication of exactly how weightless these leggings feel. They’re super-soft and smooth, the rise is nice and high, and they have that magical fit of being supportive…without squeezing. I LOVE THEM.
I’m also happy to report that lululemon has increased its size range, and these leggings are now available in sizes from 0 – 20, as well as three different lengths: 25″, 28″ and 31″.
Because they’re so insanely weightless, they’re one of the few pairs of leggings I can wear comfortably all day — even after a long workout. And they’re wicking and breathable and great for both my lower-impact workouts (like yoga or pilates) or my super sweaty ones — biking or HIIT workouts.
These leggings are totally opaque (in any shade), but I’ll always recommend sticking with leggings in darker colors — this gorgeous olive is as light as I’ll comfortably go. Not only is this shade really pretty with black, but olive leggings make a chic base for a monochromatic outfit, too.
I know I’m focused on the leggings…but it’s worth taking a peek at lululemon’s jackets, too. Especially this Non-Stop Reversible Bomber Jacket. Not only is it great for throwing on over workout gear (instant outfit), but it also looks pretty amazing with everything else (even dresses). I have big plans for this little piece come spring.
And in case you somehow missed the insanely cool sweatshirt…here’s a back view. It’s a piece that is absofreakinglutely perfect with leggings.
lululemon’s Ready To Rulu Jogger 29″
Now these, lululemon’s Ready To Rulu Joggers, are the “loose workout leggings” that Linzi and I have been dreaming of all these years. Unlike fleece joggers, which I find uncomfortable for working out (too hot, too heavy), these joggers are made from a material akin to leggings. They have a high-rise, with a comfortable (read: supportive, not squeezy) waistband. They don’t flap around and are a legit option for working out.
These pants also come in a size range of 0 – 20, and are available in a bunch of colors. I have a really long rise, so I sized up to a size 6 (otherwise they fit TTS). Of course, they’re so comfortable that I find myself…
…ya know. Just…gettin’ cozy.
They’re good, yeah?
I always appreciate pieces that fit my lifestyle, pieces that make it easier for me to squeeze in that very necessary workout — the one that keeps me sane and functioning. And these two pieces (the leggings, the joggers) both hit that sweet spot of comfort and practicality (seriously — you can put them through their paces), yet are chic enough to transition into real life. (And don’t even get me started on the sweatshirt…I just crazy-love that thing.)
Well done, lululemon. WELL DONE.
