I honestly don’t have loads to say about this look besides the fact that I love it. (It was my teammates who made me add ‘badass’ to the title, friends. Haha. But hey, I’ll take it!)
I love how easy these Gap jeans are and how soft-yet-chic this Alex Mill vest is (btw, it’s also at Nordstrom).
And together? Yes please.
Barrel Leg Jeans + Button-Up Vest = Badass Outfit Basics
This jeans and vest look is just an easy summer outfit go-to that I’m putting on repeat. You’ve heard me rave about both of these pieces before: I love this vest paired with black Athleta basics and the jeans are part of my denim-on-denim formula.
Gap Barrel Leg Jeans
These High Rise Gap Barrel leg jeans are soft enough to be comfy for summer, but still rigid enough not to stretch out a ton. And…they’re flattering on the booty.
They fit true to size. I’m wearing a 28. If you’re taller than me — I’m 5’4″ — you might want to go with the Tall length. I’m liking the cool “washed black” option, as well.
I so wish the matching pants from Alex Mill had worked out, but they were too see-through. Before these barrel jeans, I was pairing the vest with these white Everlane barrel pants for a ‘suit-ish’ look. I see a theme here…(you can peep the Alex Mill pants in that link, too).

Linen Blend Vest Top
I’m really digging (finally) having a cute, summery button-up vest in rotation, too. I’ve been searching for one I liked for years… as I predicted, it was something my closet needed. I’m wearing it a ton!
As I mentioned, it’s available at Nordstrom and Alex Mill’s site. The fabric is a linen, cotton and Tencel blend which equals superb softness. I sized up to a M to accommodate for my bust and ribcage and it’s perfect (I’m a 34D/32DD bust). I love that it’s not too low under the arms and doesn’t show my bra. It looks super-cute worn open over my black tank dresses too.

Tan Accessories
I complemented the Jeans Vest Combo with some soft beige and brown accessories (like these minimalist sandals I adore) that wound up really finishing off the look. I’m digging summery earth tones here to go with the off-white of the vest and warm up the classic blue wash of the jeans. My tan clutch is older from Anthropologie, but this Staud shoulder bag would give a similar vibe, as would this little brown bag from Banana Republic.

I was going to round up more vests for y’all but have honestly had trouble finding any others I like or that fit well. If you have any options you love, do share them! Until next time…
