Comparing Basic Cashmere Sweaters: J.Crew vs Naadam vs Quince vs Reformation

While my very favorite cashmere sweaters were already mentioned in our huge guide, The Best Cashmere Sweaters of 2022, I’ve also been eyeing up the newest crop of classic cashmere sweaters. And by “classic,” I don’t mean asymmetric hems or other interesting details. Instead, I’m talking about the humble cashmere crewneck. J.Crew has one in a zillion colors, Reformation has a sustainably made one that I’ve loved for years, NAADAM has one under $100 with cult following, and Quince has one for only $60.

Which one to recommend?

In this video, I try them all on, and highlight some of the differences. So. If you are in the market for a new cashmere crew, hopefully this will help narrow down your search!

4 Classic Cashmere Crewneck Sweaters Tried & Reviewed

NAADAM Essential $75 Cashmere Sweater: Machine washable, soft, thick, fitted waistband, roomy enough, ton of colors, easy to tuck, available in plus size

Quince Mongolian Cashmere Crewneck Sweater: Only $50, classic shape, fitted waistband, sleeves not as long, more fitted in the arms/shoulders, tiny bit scratchier cashmere, top pick for kids/teens/tweens

J.Crew Cashmere Classic-Fit Crewneck Sweater: Over $100, sleeve length is good, good shape, feels roomier, nice drape throughout the body, super soft, can be tucked, available in plus sizes

Reformation Cashmere Boyfriend Sweater: Ribbed waistband, shorter fit (but not cropped), shoulder seams are perfect, modern shrunken fit, soft, sustainable

  1. Great info and demo of these cashmere options. I wish J.Crew had a v-neck option this year. I believe Naadam does, but I don’t like the quality of the fabric as much.
Just a little feedback….you say “um” too much in this video. I’m guilty of that too when I give presentations or make videos. If you are aware of it, it’s easier to try to combat. It will make your presentation stronger.
