What’s an item of clothing you’ve been thinking about forever, but just haven’t gotten around to trying yet?

For me, it’s been a form-fitting one-piece: you know, those leotard-esque pieces that look perfect for both yoga class and standing on the sidelines at your kid’s soccer game (or just literally running after you’re toddler all day like I do…he’s…busy). I finally tried this knit one-piece from Backcountry, and to be honest… I can’t believe I haven’t tried one sooner.

Turns out, a form-fitting one-piece is also wonderfully easy to style. I’ve been pairing it with my go-to fave shirt jacket and soft button-ups, then lacing up sneakers to finish. It even comes in a bike shorts version that I'm now thinking is a need.

The Basin and Range knit jersey one-piece is incredibly flattering. It’s made from soft cotton instead of athletic material such as spandex, so it’s breathable and easy to wear all day long. The one-piece magically sculpts my frame without restricting it, and the length is perfect for my 5’9” self.

My husband and I have always been major outdoorsy people, and it’s even more incredibly special with our son, connecting with nature as a family. Now that the snow is finally gone, we’ve been getting outside every day either to the park or the beach (or both, since our fave park is beachside).

A One-And-Done Outfit That’s Easy To Layer

I loved how the model had athletic shorts pulled on over the top, but since it’s still pretty cold here in Michigan, it inspired me to layer the one-piece with pants. The top portion acted like a bodysuit peeking out, and the long layering on my legs kept me warm.

These utility style pants from Stoic are so well-made. I was immediately drawn to the extra large pockets and wide leg. I’ve always been into white jeans, but have never found a pair I liked. Trousers, on the other hand, are my jam, and these pants feel like a cool combo of the two (would be equally great for the office).

Throwing on this one-piece is easy and incredibly freeing, and it’s making mom life immensely easier to go from my office to playing outside. If you’re a fan of leggings for all-the-things and athleisure style, you will love this too.

On our warmer spring days I’ve been swapping my cozy Ruby Jacket for something lighter.

This gauzy-cotton top is so good that I’ve been reaching for it in place of t-shirts. If that sun actually decides to stick around for a while, I can’t wait to pair it with denim shorts.

I wouldn’t necessarily wear this one-piece to a workout class due to its cotton material, but now that I know I love this style, I’m eyeing up this performance version that I can actually work up a serious sweat in (here’s a bike shorts performance option, as well).

Fit Notes: I consider the one-piece TTS, I’m wearing a medium and it fits like a freaking glove.

PS… trips to the bathroom while wearing this totally doesn’t bother me…I’m a jumpsuits, onesies and overalls type-of-person all the way.

This Tennis-Inspired Comfort Sneaker Is My New Go-To

I have to give these sneakers a moment of their own.

When I saw this casual tennis-inspired sneaker from ON I immediately added it to my online shopping cart. They’re made with organic, vegan materials and have the same comfort as their running shoes.

ON shoes have quickly become a top favorite brand of mine. I first tried their cloudflow running shoe (also available in a wide fit) this time last year and it has since been my most worn shoe for the gym.

That following summer I swapped my old hiking shoes for their cloudrock boots and they are not only perfect for Michigan trails but are one of the more fashionable hiking shoes I’ve ever seen. I highly recommend all of the above.

I have a thing for that classic tennis shoe look (just don’t ever put an actual tennis racket in my hand, I’m the worst) and these are my new favorite. I wear both 9.5 and 10 in shoes, and the 9.5 is perfect in this style. ON shoes are now 3-for-3 in my playbook, they’re just so good.
