I used to be young. Seriously. I purchased 5-inch Paris Hilton platform heels (that’s hot) and teetered around…OK, not the clubs, but definitely the local pub after rehearsals for whatever show I was in at the moment.
I stopped that nonsense a few years ago, to the point where when I went to pack up my shoes for our move, my heels had at least an inch of dust on them. I can do wedges and flatforms, but show me a stiletto, and I wilt.
But when I saw these Coach Mollie Sandals with the teeniest heel, I couldn’t resist adopting the poor kitten (heels) and taking them home. They couldn’t be that bad.
Not only are they not bad; they are positively comfortable! I don’t look like a newborn calf walking in them, and I don’t have to soak my feet in the tub after a night wearing them. I always eschewed kitten heels because they reminded me of little old lady shoes (no offense to little old ladies, you are my idols). These sandals are modern, and on-trend with the puffy, braided strap and buckle, plus the pink is fun! The color is actually called “taffy.” But seriously what brings forth the promise of summer more than boardwalk taffy?! They’ve found a place in my wardrobe that will not gather dust.
Fit Notes/Where to Buy: I’ve found these heels to be TTS (I am wearing an 8). Depending on what size/color combo you are looking for (you can also get them in black, white and a gorgeous periwinkle) you can find them at Saks, Coach or Amazon.
How I’m Wearing The Pink Coach Kitten Heel Sandals
So, since these new kitten heels are my shoe du jour, I thought I’d throw together a few ideas for a little outfit inspo, which you might want once you snag a pair. Yes, I’m that certain.
1| Kitten Heels + Jumpsuit
I’ve waxed poetic about Everlane’s GoWeave Jumpsuit before, and the Coach Kitten Heels are the perfect pop of pink to complement this outfit. Add a bold lip and some hair flair, and I feel dressy enough for date night with minimal effort.
Fit Notes/Where to Buy: I sized up in the Everlane Jumpsuit from my normal 10 to a 12. I did have the straps shortened a bit by a tailor eventually. The Coach Mollie Sandals can be found at Saks, Coach or Amazon (TTS – I’m wearing an 8).
2| Kitten Heels + Graphic Tee + Jeans
Give me a graphic tee ANY ol’ day. The graphic tee (under $15 at Target!) with distressed jeans and dainty heels is an unexpected combo that works. What can I say, I’m a little bit country, a little bit rock n’ roll…or something like that. The cropped length of my MOTHER The Tomcats jeans really allow the Coach heels to shine. I don’t have my blazer with me in our short-term rental, but I think that something like this would look fab over the Rolling Stones graphic tee for a cooler (literally) nighttime look.
Fit Notes/Where to Buy: The graphic tee is TTS (I’m wearing a large for a slouchier look). The MOTHER Tomcats are also TTS (I’m wearing a 30. Wear them a bit and let them break in. Trust me!) The Coach Mollie Sandals can be found at Saks, Coach or Amazon (TTS – I’m wearing an 8).
3| Kitten Heels + Linen Pants + Button Down Shirt
This all-black ensemble (i.e.: wannabe tech kid-chic) was featured in my 12 Ways to Wear Athleta’s Cabo Linen Wide Leg Pants. I updated the look with my Coach heels and pink statement arch earrings from my favorite women-owned, Black-owned Business, BR Design Co. I sized down in my Cabo Linen Pants, so the length isn’t as long for higher heels (I’m 5’7). Kitten heels are the ideal height.
Fit Notes/Where to Buy: I sized down in the Cabo Pants to an 8 (if length is your concern, go TTS). The button-down is TTS (I’m wearing a large). The Coach Mollie Sandals can be found at Saks, Coach or Amazon (TTS – I’m wearing an 8).
4| Kitten Heels + Maxi Dress
The best part of the Farm Rio Maxi Dress (similar colors/style) is that it is so easy to pick up one of the colors of the rainbow displayed in this frock. The pink heels lend a more demure look to this statement dress allowing this fun Anthropologie headband and lip combo really shine. See, Coach can share the spotlight too!
5| Kitten Heels + Denim Shorts + Simple Black Tee
There’s something about shorts with heels that just feels “Crazy, sexy, cool” (name that ’90s album in the comments). Simple, lightweight James Perse black tee (currently on sale) knotted at the waist, broken-in Everlane Denim Shorts (more styling ideas for these bad boys here,) plus a bold lip, and I look way cooler than I ever feel internally. If you want to elongate your legs, a little leverage in the heel department is all it takes.
Fit Notes/Where to Buy: The Everlane denim shorts run a little big, so size down (I’m wearing a 29). The James Perse Tee is TTS (I am wearing a 3, which equals a large). I like a bigger, longer tee for tucking in/tying. If you prefer a more fitted look, consider sizing down. The Coach Mollie Sandals can be found at Saks, Coach or Amazon, and they fit TTS. I’m wearing an 8.
As we begin to venture out more, it’s time to stop relying on the same old Birks sitting by the backdoor all the time (although they are admittedly so comfy). Occasionally it feels good to dress up, and these Coach sandals give a little bit of sophistication without the need to bandage your feet the next day. If sensible-ish footwear isn’t the true sign of growing up, I don’t know what is.
