You guyssssss, flip-flops are having a moment (or they’re about to). We’re elated to realize this because, well, they’re the freaking easiest. As in — dare we say it — the easiest summer shoe ever? I mean, the whole slip-on/slip-off thing is hard to beat.
Whether you’re planning lots of beach days, or you’re in need of some chic, easy shoes to pair with your cutoff shorts or breezy dresses, flip-flops are going to be everywhere this summer. In a cool kinda way.
We had to do some serious research (aka a weighty, momentous Zoom call picking apart poor, defenseless flip-flop styles) in order to pare down THE shoes of summer 2023. It’s pretty obvious that flip-flops are high up on the trends list for the upcoming months where those pretty pedicures are on full display. Hallelujah.

Where did this oh-so-serious research stem from, you may wonder? Nordstrom was the first site to pique our interest. It has such a good selection if you want more shoes than you knew were possible to sift through. Other great retailers that seem to have The Shoe Of The Summer all stocked up? Saks, Bloomingdales and probably Amazon are your best options.

How chic!! The little bit of heel totally takes these J.Crew flip-flops up a notch, making it pairable with fancier outfits all spring & summer long. I love the laid-back, beachy look the model is sporting with them.

The footbed on these OluKai flip-flops just looks so buttery, doesn’t it? I appreciate the 1/2-inch platform and the soft leather straps for an effortlessly comfy footwear option for every day.

Am I the only one who discriminates between ‘flip flops’ (which have a rubber sole) and thong sandals (which have a leather sole)? I’ll wear flip flops to the beach or to do quick errands, thong sandals when I’m wearing ‘real’ clothes.
I work retail and we are allowed to wear sandals to work, a few years ago my boss informed me that my Tory Burch Miller sandals were ‘flip flops’ and not allowed. $200 flip flops? lol. Nope, they are sandals and several of us, including other managers wore them.
