We just took the kids to Carolina Beach, NC, for some sun, sand and swimming. We try to get there every year to visit family, and we’ve absolutely fallen in LOVE with the area. We walk the boardwalk, have picnics at the beach, dive into the ocean, amble around the carnival, and eat the best donuts I’ve ever had (literally, they alone are worth the trip!). It’s just the best getaway at the end of the school year. This was the first time Ozzie’s been to the beach, and his reaction was so fun to watch—from trying to eat the sand, to laughing at the water running over his feet — he had a great time. (Almost as much fun as his mom and dad had sipping pineapple-jalapeno margaritas by the pool—YUM).
Supergoop! Sunnyscreen: Sunscreen For Babies & Toddlers
Of course, sunscreen is an absolute must for all of us, but especially for Ozzie and his super-pale, never-before-seen-the-sun skin. So when Supergoop! recently shared their Sunnyscreen line of SPF for babies and toddlers (6 months and up) with us, I was excited to try it. The line consists of three “100% non-nano mineral formulas:” a lotion, a stick and a spray, all SPF 50. They’re all fragrance-free, silicone-free, hypoallergenic and water-resistant up to 80 minutes. I used the lotion all over Ozzie’s body before going out in the sun, the stick on his face (he loved the feel of it gliding over his face before I blended it in), and the spray to re-apply throughout the day. All three formulas were super-easy to apply, and I’m happy to report that he had absolutely no burn whatsoever and no reaction to any of the formulas. For a baby with super-sensitive skin, that’s pretty amazing.
Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen
If you want to try the Sunnyscreen line for kiddos along with a little something for yourself, check out the “One for Me, One for Them” Duo. I’ve been obsessed with Unseen Sunscreen (Supergoop!’s lightweight makeup primer) since first trying it in April. It’s an awesome primer that creates a slightly glowy effect (you can wear it either under makeup or on its own) and has SPF 40. I’ve been using it daily since I got it, and it especially came in handy in North Carolina (it kept my makeup on all day—even through sweating in the hotter temps—and I never had a burn). Greenlea started putting on her SPF with me in the mirror each morning while I applied my makeup. She loved the Sunnyscreen Mineral Stick and how easy it was to apply herself. (Plus it smells amazing. She wanted to eat it, but I assured her it wouldn’t taste nearly as good as it smelled.)
Supergoop! has been our go-to for sunscreen since Greenlea was little and would only let us apply their Super Power Sunscreen Mousse. Since then, they’ve continued to come up with new ways to help protect us from the sun. Along with the Unseen Sunscreen and Sunnyscreen line for kids, I’ve been using their Shimmershade Eye Shadow (for eyelids) and Poof Part Powder (for my part) all the time. I highly recommend both of them for these often-overlooked parts exposed to the sun. (You can see my review of Shimmershade here.)
