I love a good update to a classic closet piece, so when I started seeing boxier cut denim jackets, I had to try one out. I styled it up a few different ways to test out the versatility. Let’s see what worked and what didn’t!
Boxy Denim Jacket: Dressed Up
OK, this was my favorite. I do think this boxy, casual shape needs some dressy or feminine elements to help it shine. A silky trouser and a pretty pair of heels did the trick (btw, I LOVE these walkable heels)…and don’t forget earrings (I usually do! Ha)
Boxy Denim Jacket: With My Go-To Outfit
I wanted to see if this could swap in for my beloved classic denim jackets. I think with my regular go-to graphic tee, jeans and booties, it works. I wore it open, but it also looks cute buttoned with this look.
Boxy Denim Jacket: Denim on Denim
OK, stick with me here. I know this look isn’t for everyone, but I love it. I’d actually like to try this one out with heels, too. I think it has that coveralls vibe I love, but in a more accessible (literally) outfit. The fancy sneakers keep it from looking totally utilitarian or like I’m going to work on the railroad in the 1930’s. Ha. But heels would do that even more.
Boxy Denim Jacket: With Shorts
I know we’re over shorts, but I had to try it out at least. I saw this jacket styled with shorts when I was originally drawn to it. I don’t mind this, but it’s not my favorite. I think if the shorts were shorter? Different wash? But the neutral wedge sandals help.
Boxy Denim Jacket: Wide-Leg Pants & High Tops
This look is kinda springy and nice. With the high-rise pants though, I wish the jacket were just slightly more cropped on my petite frame, but I would still rock this in spring and early summer.

Have you tried this shape on or seen a more cropped or petite version? I’m digging this style and want to keep searching. I’ll keep ya posted!
We got a sunny day today and it’s giving me life. My friend Chris and I ventured out for yummy grilled PB&J’s and, wait for it, chickpea ice cream! Did you know that was a thing? I didn’t either! This whole restaurant has baked goods, breads and ice cream all made from chick peas. And they’re delicious! Dairy-/gluten-/nut-free people rejoice! Check it out.
Until next time!
