Happy Passover and Happy Easter to our friends who celebrate! We hope the holidays are filled with family and love!
My father always made the most amazing egg hunts ever. They were epic. And he’s taken to doing them for my kids when he’s with them for the holidays. He somehow always manages to ‘code’ them for all ages and challenge levels, and to work a few bonus finds in there. It’s somehow different every year. It’s one of his super powers. That’s not this year unfortunately, but that’s what I’m holding in my heart right now, are the memories of the funnest moments that have been and all the ones that will come again. Hide some eggs. Hide some matzah. Have some fun!
Do you ever stumble on things that just make you smile? THIS. And it’s an additional 30% off with sale code: joyofspring. Cheap(er) laughs; that’s about where we are right now. In addition to wishing for one myself, I’m also thinking that’s a great friendship gift for whomever in your own life most needs it right now. Heck, we might all need one of those pillows right now.
Do you ever try something new and it doesn’t work? Yup me too. I was super-excited when J.Crew tried HOME. They are just so clean and crisp and OK, maybe it’s the 80’s child in me that will always hold a place in my heart for them. That category for them? Gone. Poof. However, if you dig (because sometimes I can’t let go, so I dug) there are a few things left from that experiment on sale. So follow this link. That’ll get you there.
Where else do we need to go right now? Maybe we just cruise some pretty home finds and all the sales for a few minutes, and then we think about what’s next, later.
1/ Short Sleeve Sweatshirt – Heather Grey: I have one short sleeve sweatshirt in my closet, and this one on its way! I love that they are so soft and cozy, but that they also lay well enough (b/c of the cut of the short sleeves) that I almost look dressed enough in that + jeans. And I’m comfortable. I especially love them in these in between seasons because I’m often hot, and these breathe well. What does this have to do with home? I usually pick a uniform sweatshirt each season, my 8-year-old told me recently that I’m done with the winter one I wore more of each week than not. So this one is coming in next. Therefore if you are like my small crew of girlfriends that regularly stop by my home just for a quick visit, on any given day for the next couple of months, there’s a super-strong chance you’ll find me wearing this one. And being very happy in it.
2/ Rattan Lazy Susan Light Brown – Threshold: It’s a Rattan Lazy Susan! Perfect for all the happy hours and make your own taco nights!
3/ Bud Vase Glass – Smith & Hawken, Clear: Do you also have children who love nothing more than cutting fresh flowers and making sweet arrangements? Some vases are just more special. This one is easy to love and easy to work with!
4/ Framed Abstract Watercolor Wall Canvas 24 X 24 – Project 62: Watercolor + Foil on white is just happy! This is a great, affordable piece of artwork that works well just about everywhere that needs a little color and love.
5/ 60″ Potted Faux Olive Tree – Lloyd & Hanna: I’m working with a family that wants LOTS of plants in their home. I don’t challenge the lots of plants, but I am wondering about capacity for keeping plants alive. Not everyone has the patience and green thumb required to care for living plants. Maybe a mix? Of living and faux, and choose faux for the bigger ones? Olive trees are gorgeous. I grew up with two giant ones in my mother’s garden. They were genuinely amazing. Indoors though? Maybe we go faux. These in particular, for their size, are a great price.
6/ Planterworx Arena Rectangular Planters: We’re building a new garden that involves what will be a green wall, but is currently painted black. It sits on top of a bluestone patio. My default would normally be white planters, but rain splashes and they often hold the splash. Or black, but I don’t want to kill this garden in black. I could just go grey, or a fun color, but I think there’s just something special about the weathered steel. And these in particular are made through a strong process, they are meant to last, and they are also built with the environment in mind. We are going to eat the herbs that will be planted in them, so what they are made of is more meaningful. I wish they came in a 48″…but I love them enough that we might make the 40″ ones work. I’m holding that thought for now. But only for a tiny bit because they are on sale now.
7/ Dusen Dusen Towel Why shouldn’t towels be this fun? I love the bold design and playful color combo, and rather than looking like a mess, I also love it when towels hanging to dry almost look like art. Or at least, when I don’t mind seeing them out doing so. And they are on sale.
9/ IRIS METAL GARMENT RACK WITH WOOD SHELVES: We were recently hunting for a great clothing rack at a great price for a friend and came up with this one! It also comes in black, but we love it in white!
10/ Wild as the wind III Painting I was recently searching the webs for affordable large art. That’s an oxymoron in many regards. Of everything I found, paintings by Melissa Herrington through Saatchi Art were among the ones I fell in love with, and were also more reasonably priced than many. AND…there’s a code for 15% off $1,000+ (which is meaningful) this weekend: springfling.
11/ All Roads Marisol Pillows: One of my goals for the week is to work on Cecilia’s bedroom. AJ and Grace were fine with letting me make most of the choices for their bedrooms, and so theirs are done. Cecilia needs to have more of a say, which I not only respect, I also enjoy. She’s got great taste. That said, sometimes we do best when I just try things and she walks into them. So she’ll come home to the bed that I need to move out of storage which she’s graciously agreed to try even though it’s not what she had in mind, and maybe she’ll love it more with a pile of these on it? Especially when she sees them with the crazy Alice in Wonderland collage I’m also hoping to get to this weekend? #momgoals That, and cleaning her turtle tank.
12/ Southport 2pk Patio Club Chair Linen – Opalhouse: Opalhouse is killing the Rattan trend. These are great low-back conversation chairs that work well on their own with a side table, or as accents to a sofa or larger outdoor setting.
