Fresh air. I will never take it for granted again after this summer and this year’s fire season. Friends, this trip to the coast to get outside with my girlie was just what I needed. You can see it on my face in all of these photos…what a gift it was. The sky opened up into a gorgeous blue for us, too. We hiked through the seagrass and took in the view of the gorgeous Oregon Coast. We felt the fresh salt air on our faces and laughed and had our spirits renewed. I get to head back out briefly this week again and I’m counting the hours until that happens.

Cozy Outfit Must-Haves For Outdoor Activities
The weather here in the Pacific Northwest is temperate but unpredictable. It can be lightly raining one minute, windy the next and then sunny, which can mean instantly warmer! Layering is the only way to go out here, especially when you’re hiking around and traversing through the landscape. I’ve worn this cozy fleece jacket from Kuhl layered with a puffer vest over it for years now. It’s my favorite combo that provides warmth, cuteness and versatility.

Vest: The North Face 1996 Retro Nuptse Vest (s) – I recently upgraded my worn out, inexpensive puffer vest to this amazing The North Face vest that will last me many more years. I love how comfy it is and how well it’s made. It’s nice and warm, but I have the option of layering it over warm jackets or lighter tops for super versatility. Take 15% off with code THEMOMEDIT.
Jacket: Kuhl Flight Fleece Jacket (s) – I’ve worn this cozy fleece jacket layered with a puffer vest over it for years now. It’s my favorite combo that provides warmth, cuteness and versatility.
Boots: Blundstone Classic Chelsea Boots (tts) – The most versatile outdoor shoes I own. I’ve had mine for years; my friend Sarah always wore them from her time living in Australia and New Zealand. They’re the boots you can easily wear for all things hiking or camping, and then wear in fall and winter with street clothes, too. I love them. They fit true to size and you can easily swap in an arch support if needed. They hold up well forever and ever, and they are great for kids and husbands who are hard on their shoes. I can’t say enough about them. And as far as the Northwest goes, well, you’re in good company. They’re everywhere here! They’re a classic style and a go-to shoe for our whole family.
Tee: Backcountry Retro Goat Long-Sleeve Tee (s) – Perfect for layering and I adore the retro vibes. Take 15% off with code THEMOMEDIT.
Leggings: Girlfriend Collective High-Rise 7/8 Compressive Legging (s) – These are great. They stay up and aren’t too thick or thin and super flattering. They’re the perfect ankle length on me at 5’4″. TTS. Take 15% off with code THEMOMEDIT.
Tote Pack: The North Face 14.5L Tote Pack – This little pack is the perfect size for a little day hike. It also fits my 13″ laptop easily! Love the color and the size. Take 15% off with code THEMOMEDIT.
Socks: Smartwool Popcorn Polka Dot Crew Sock (20% off right now!) – Smartwool are just about the only socks I actually wear. I love this cozy popcorn pattern here. I accidentally got a size small and they were fine for my size 8 foot, so they may run a little bit large.

What are you doing to get out and about this fall? Gosh, I bet the Northeast is starting to be so beautiful with all of the trees changing. I do miss that about the South, too. I feel like the number one thing for saving my mental health this year has been to get out in nature…even if that means an hour in the backyard with my feet in the grass. It’s been life-giving, for sure.
I wish for us all a fall full of fresh air and getting outside. For my next day trip, I’ll probably head to the Columbia River Gorge— my favorite place in the world — to do a little hike. Amongst all the strangeness of this year these things are absolutely necessary and so, so important right now! Insert take a hike joke here. Hugs, y’all.

You look so happy, love this post! What color are your boots? Loving the rustic brown…
Gah, thank you so much! It was a much-needed escape to the fresh salt air and sunshine. Wow, didn’t know how much I needed it. Yes, they are the rustic brown! My go-to Blundstone color. Somehow they just go with everything.
