Have you heard of Amazon Handmade? It’s a special section of Amazon.com dedicated to individual artisans who have all sorts of handcrafted gorgeousness to offer. It’s also a realllllly good place to get lost – where you start browsing at 10PM and suddenly look up to find it’s somehow 1AM. One of those truly addicting spaces.
As you might imagine, Amazon Handmade has all sorts of fun options for Mother’s Day. Amazon reached out and asked us to pick a few of our favorites. We found traditional mom gifts with a handmade twist (candles, necklaces, etc) but there’s also a ton of fun, quirky gifts.
Mother’s Day Gifts You’ll Want For Yourself
I’m loving these simple leather bracelets from Amazon Handmade artisan Laurel Denise. The bracelets come in additional leathers (gold, silver, red), and there are a ton of other messages to choose from (you can see them all here), but ‘choose joy’ in simple brown leather is just so sweet to me.
A little something to glam up the breakfast-in-bed tray, AND to remind my little guys that I get first pick of the goodies. I like the simple “Mom” (perf for staking my claim on the lemon tart) but they also make “Best Mom Ever” or just glittery stars (which could be reused for EVERYTHING).
I am in love with this Philadelphia-based brand. This waxed canvas pouch is a really good size – slightly larger than a Clare V. clutch, and would be a perfect date-night bag all summer. The vibe is very understated-cool. The pouch is also available in “truffle,” a really chic brown.
My kids would go crazy for this rolling pin. To make it a gift, though, it would be cute if *someone* helped the kids whip up a batch of cookies, then gifted the entire set. I’m trying to picture Mike and the kids doing this…BWAH HA HA HA. Actually, this would be a super cute gift for my mom. And I know she’d get a kick out of making skull cookies with the boys.
This entire line of jewelry is completely drool-worthy. This simple ring is one of my favorites, but this artisan also makes a really pretty (and understated) gold plated cuff bracelet, minimalist bar earrings, and wildly glamorous statement earrings that look totally vintage and one-of-a-kind (these, for example). You can find her entire line, here.
Speaking of projects that moms and kids can do together….these handmade herb signs (made from recycled spoons!!!) made me swoon. I’d love to see the boys gift me with a day of container gardening. They could use A’s container gardening guide as a plan, and on Mother’s Day morning, wrap up these cute garden stakes with packets of seeds (or better yet, starter plants). And if Mike really wanted to go nuts, I wouldn’t say no to this living wall planter – wow.
Calling all Mamas with a sense of humor….instead of a pretty cloth napkin, these would be a fun (and surprising) addition to the breakfast-in-bed tray, or just a fun trio for any sort of gifting coming up (housewarming, hostess gifts, etc.) I bought myself a set because the kids and I couldn’t stop giggling. “Hey Mom!! Watch me whip…..watch me nay-nay…”
The Amazon Handmade artisans who make a bunch of these punny towels (‘Olive me loves olive you’ or ‘Every now and then I fall apart,’ complete with a pic of a taco, haha) is either Moonlight Makers or Designing Moments.
These earrings are handmade in the Dominican Republic, and reviewers have raved about how lightweight and comfortable they are to wear. They’re nice and big, though, and perfect for summer with a simple white tank and cutoffs.
The curves in this tiny little bowl are almost…sexy? This bowl was intended to be used for holding something small and precious – like wedding rings or keys. I’m constantly on the hunt for both, so I’ll take two, please.
These everyday earrings are such a sweet, easy gift. One that would actually get a ton of use.
I don’t normally go for this kind of thing, but there’s something about these simple little pears that make me indescribably happy. I’d put them in the kitchen window and just smile. Mike…..are you reading this???
Yes, yes, a thousand times yes!! OMG little boys coming into my room on Mother’s Day holding a “let’s cuddle” pillow? I DIE.
There’s a million Pinterest how-tos on filling a terrarium….I think this would be a really cute project for the kids to make a killer Mother’s Day gift. (For you or your mom!)
This nostalgic set reminds me of when I used to make my mom perfume from rose petals for Mother’s Day. It worked great for about 24 hours, then would start to turn. This set is all organic, and comes with a handmade soap, whipped body butter (organic coconut and shea butters, among others), a mineral bath soak, and a soy-based candle. Perfect.
I’m all about the breakfast-in-bed goodies….and how cute would these be stuck into a slice of cake or a croissant, with kid drawings and “love you mom!!” written on them? Then you could go back to using these for boring old cheese. cake > cheese
I love how this is so pretty…yet very, very sturdy. And it’s intended for plants that need virtually no care and feeding. Soooooo…yes. A total and complete win in my book. Boys, play ball!
I loved the casual vibe of this hand-stamped necklace. I think it’s the mixed metals (and you can choose the length). While one could get their name on the necklace, I think I’d go with the French “maman”. Understated cool.
I saved my absolute favorite for last. This map is labeled, “Our travels worldwide…Adventures of a lifetime” and it’s framed and mounted on cork. The map comes with a set of black and red pins. You can stick the black pins into the places you’ve visited, and the red pins into the places you want to go. The boys and I have been having so much fun reminiscing about past trips, and plotting where we want to go. I put out a stack of travel magazines and some of those fun travel books (this one is always on our coffee table) to inspire. It’s been a really great way to talk about the world with the kids. One note: the pins aren’t necessarily easy to push in. After a while, my thumb started to hurt. But that did prevent Pax from incessantly sticking pins everywhere, so perhaps the cork is stiff by design, haha.
I hope your Mother’s Day is relaxing and fun, Mamas.
