Does anyone else start wanting ALL THE VELVET this time of year? It’s just such a luxe fabric that calls to me every December, I swear. It’s cozy AND gorgeous, all-in-one. I know it’s tempting, but we shouldn’t limit our “fancier” pieces only to special events. I say, WEAR THE VELVET! And, I say wear the velvet all season long to get the most out of it…like this lovely navy blazer with a pop of fun under the collar.
Velvet Blazer: An Unexpected Outfit Topper To Dress Up or Down, All Winter Long
Outfit 1: With Leopard Heels & Faux Leather
This is an easy party look that’s warm and comfortable. This would be a great solution for a work party or honestly, most parties for me these days because rarely do we really go all out. Size up in these faux leather jeans. I like that they are more of a kick crop fit to keep them modern. Faux leather skinny jeans and I have a hard time getting along because of length typically, and the fact that they show all the wrinkles and folds in the fabric. These read more of a trouser, look a bit dressier and lay nicely (if you get the size up).

Outfit 2: With Jeans & A Tee For Everyday
See? You don’t have to save that blazer for parties only. This styled-down look works especially well with a navy blazer but would be fun with black or a burgundy, too. I think I’d pair a green blazer with black or gray jeans and maybe a gray or black, tee, too. But the leopard bag and sneakers would work with all colors to give a casual vibe for travel (or any day you want to be a little luxe and a little laidback, all at once). Check out more ways to dress down your velvet in my post from last year.)

Are you able to get more wear out of any of your holiday or party pieces by styling them down? I’d love to hear how you’re making some of those things work more in your closet! I always get drawn into the velvet, the sequins and the shiny this time of year, but keep thinking how I can rock them more than once a year. Happy holiday party season, friends!
