We can either talk about life (and death) — and a few things I figured out this week (for all of us — and yes, there’s a hint of sarcasm in that bold statement, but also a little truth too.) —and the tears we shed this week over very real stuff that actually happened, again. Or we can distract/stay focused, and finish the holiday shopping and prepping. Let’s do that, that’s where we are lucky to be right now.
And then when the year comes to an end and the holidays come to a close, I’ll share a few lessons learned from last week that just might serve us well in the year to come and what I’m wishing for the world then. For now, favorite finds are a mix of fun, practical gifts, and well, things that I would like for my own self and in my own home. All the fun home decor stuff on big sale below too!
Weekly Favorite Finds 12.14: Fun & Practical Presents For Self-Gifting & Home
/ Better Sleep Treat This great gift comes in a few cleverly named sets. Unwind is my favorite b/c who of us don’t need a little bit of that? I would like to be on the receiving end of one of these sweet sets…hint, hint.
/ Cozy Throw Blanket Two-toned, super-cozy, makes a great gift, or freshens up what we currently have thrown over a chair or sofa for all the cuddles! And…Eco Wise, washable, and made by my favorite throw blanket company.
/ Balls for All Seasons Sure, hang them on the tree for now and enjoy every minute of them. But when the season ends, I wouldn’t put these in the bin. I’d arrange them in a bowl or glass vase or some other fun place and leave them out year-round.
/ Bright Pop of Wall Art Add a fun pop of color to a wall that needs it with this sweet set!
/ Backgammon Just Got Better Seriously? This set is beautiful! Great gift for your game-loving competitive relative that also appreciates fine art.
/ Salt and Pepper (or Herbes De Provence) Those round oak stoppers stopped me dead in my searching tracks. What a gorgeous way to store herbs, salt, pepper, all the kitchen seasoning goodness. And the bath salts too.
/ Tea Time Just ordered this as a gift for Ceci, who basically asked for nothing for the holidays this year, other than “experiences.” I love that about her. But she’s also 9 and needs a few things to open. She’s a tea drinker. And these seems like a fun bonus, tea-specific travel cup. C likes when things are different, special and her own. I ordered her the turquoise one. It’s super-cute.
/ Picnic Time We’ve had one of these for years, and it’s picnic blanket perfection. We’ve travelled so many lovely places with it, watched many fireworks from beaches on chilly summer nights, AND, it works well to protect your family room carpet for an indoor family dinner picnic.
/ Self-Watering Beautiful Genius I have a few odd pet peeves. One of them is that while I know the trays under live plants are necessary for draining water, they too often aren’t beautiful. Problem solved!
/ Best Stocking Stuffer Maybe Ever Make him blush a little? Just for fun? And who knows? Maybe this is the gift that keeps on giving.
/ The Swivel We’re All Obsessed With While it’s not free, this beauty is approximately half of what similar ones cost. The lines are gorgeous, the three options — blue, white/grey and white boucle — are all beautiful, and it’s super-transitional (works well with traditional, modern and everything in between.)
/ B-Ball Brain Break at Headquarters Kids would love this in their rooms or in a finished basement, but it’s also great for adults who work from home in their office…a little movement is all it takes to get through the day sometimes, why not have fun with it, right?
