And, Saturday. Hello again. Anyone else have a crazy week? My friend Bela explained the whole thing to me through the energies that we all lived through each day. That brought me comfort because I’m not sure how the heck else to explain what this week felt like, nor the answer to the many WTFs?  asked.  In the end, it felt like a giant crew of women, reaching out through circles, holding each other up, whole, and wrapped in love and laughter through the tears and trials of real life. And that’s everything, to me, to all of us. So if you happen to need some right now too, just know that there is plenty of good strong woman/mom/sister love energy out there; it’s all around you. 1/  Shale Striations Rug Part of a conversation on soft, pretty, good quality yet affordable not boring grey rugs. The conversation ends here. This one is great.

2/  Amy Neunsinger – Palm Forest If even a faux plant is more care than you have in you, try this beauty!

3/  Z-Bar LED Floor Lamp In transit and on its way to be the piano lamp next to a Steinway full grande. How on earth does one compliment a piano like that, and not even try to compete?  With this gorgeous linear lamp.  Done.

4/  Stella Sofa The other sofa I fell in love with this week. Perfect balance of feminine and masculine between those legs and the houndstooth fabric. And what a great shape. Not getting over this love anytime soon.

5/  Small Black Nickel Basket Also recently placed, and I’m nick naming this guy Ed. Because we love the shape of you.

6/  Portal Outdoor Coffee Table Pure easy beautiful genius, and on sale. He’s in transit too, and will be living inside a home soon.

7/  2-Door Accent Cabinet Cute and affordable nightstand/side table/accent pieces just got less boring and more better. And that color!!! Love this little guy.

8/  Serena Cane Settee This was the piece I didn’t know I was looking for this week and now and entire room is being worked around. I love a settee in a seating arrangement, under a window, at the end of a bed, and in this case, he’ll be the bench seat at a round table partnered with two chairs.

9/  Jute Bauble Rug Something about a Japanese pebble garden a friend helped me create a lifetime ago outside of an amazing loft space. I’ll just always hold a place in my heart for the calm that brings. These rugs evoke that. Is maybe why I have a few similar, and just placed a few other similar. Apparently I’m not the only one that likes a little calm pebble texture in their life.

10/  Kate Spade Pillow Talk about seeing a NYC scene through a rose filter! What a sweet silk and cotton throw pillow! Coming to a living room near you real soon….

11/  Cumulus Round In fact like a cloud. When you can get marble to float like a cloud, yup, you win the beautiful design award of the day in my book. 

12/  Lillian Vase, Medium This was where I landed when I just needed one more really pretty piece to fill a certain space this week. 20% off with code SUMMER. Even better.

13/  Cb2 Midtown Platinum Slim Sofa It’s hard to say, but this might be my new favorite piece from CB2. Two of them are on their way, so stay tuned for how we style them. I think this might be my easiest work all week, and it might also be the most beautiful when that little project is installed.

14/  Faux Fiddle Leaf Fig Plant On a very recent project, we placed live 9 foot Olive Trees. One of which has since been buried the other of which is in my garden being nursed back to health. Warnings were issued. Experiments were tried. There were casualties. No casualties this week. I just ordered a few of these for a new client. There will be no casualties this week. Just green vertical love that lasts.

  1. I have been on the hunt for a piano light. Never considered a floor lamp… I have a shiny, full grand, black piano given to me by my mom. Do you think the black would look nice next to it or do you have any other recommendations for piano lamps. It’s hard to find something attractive but functional too.

      Sarah: I love this question on so, so many levels! In real life, I would consider the whole room, the context of the piano, the other lighting in the space, and I’d look at you. What you were wearing, if you wore jewelry and what your choices were there…and I’d look for the outlet. Is it in the floor or the wall? And how close to the piano. Then I’d go piano lamp shopping. But here we are, hanging out on “the blog”. So, without any other context, just that it’s a shiny full grand that needs some light shone on it…I’ll paste a link to the lamp I’d choose blind below. It’s similar to the one I included in the post, but brass. His piano is the satin/matte finish, not the high gloss. I think that the black lamp can work with the high gloss, but it would need some context to help it do that. A brass one, assuming it worked in the rest of the room, would be my first select to compliment the higher gloss piano finish. There’s one linked below.
