Battle Of The T-Shirt Dresses: Nordstrom vs. Amazon

A t-shirt dress is a summer wardrobe staple — even for this gal who typically lives in jeans. (Jeans are all but dead to me right now though…sob.) Recently, this Treasure & Bond ruched t-shirt dress from Nordstrom has been a super-popular purchase. I bought it months ago and have loved it, but since it began selling out, I wanted to find a replacement.

Enter, the Amazon fashion find. Oh, so cute! You may have seen the post I did where I styled it up a few ways (eight to be exact).

Perfect For Summer: A Ruched Bodycon Mini Dress

The ruched bodycon mini dress is easy to wear, flattering and versatile, so you can style it many different ways. The ruching makes it comfy and less fiddly, helps it stay in place, and helps me feel good about being in this otherwise bodycon-stye dress. The waist ruching is intentional, but smooths over a softer waistline. It also adds some extra fabric, perfect for our pregnant mama friends! It’s great and comfy for travel, as a coverup, or as an everyday summer outfit base.

The Nordstrom Ruched T-Shirt Dress (Treasure & Bond)

The Treasure & Bond dress is great. It’s just sadly almost gone. I do like the fit and fabric, but both dresses are so close it’s hard to tell much of a difference in fabric. The main difference is that this dress runs ever-so-slightly smaller and the sleeves are more fitted and longer.

The Amazon Ruched T-Shirt Dress (Missufe)

The Amazon ruched bodycon dress has a very similar, if not the same, fabric-feel to the Treasure & Bond dress. Neither one is buttery soft, but soft enough for comfy all-day wear, and I think if it were a supremely soft fabric it wouldn’t hold it’s shape as well. The sleeves here are shorter and more angled, which I love. You can see the ruching more in this color (wine red btw), but as I put both of them on, they’re really similar. I think the fabric on this might be just the slightest bit lighter-weight, but again, it’s almost too close to count.

The Amazon Ruched Dress (Other Colors)

As I mentioned, the Missufe dress comes in quite a few colors. I’m not sure about the white, but maybe it could work as a summery coverup (that would make some of us look a little more tan…as a pale Portlander, I live for that trick.) The black and olive green would be really versatile. They choose some really good blues here. and that kelly green is just gorgeous. That’d be fun with some neon yellow accessories for summertime.

Amazon or Nordstrom: Which Ruched T-Shirt Dress Is Best?
The Verdict

Lucky for you, the Amazon dress is the one I prefer! I love the sleeve length even better on me, it’s well-stocked, AND comes in an array of great shades, including the very versatile, closet-staple black. And it’s cute styled with different toppers, too! (Here’s that full post again for more styling thoughts.)

  1. So excited for this post Talk to me about the underwear you wear with these dresses. (Sorry, is that TMI?) I have the Leith ruched sleeveless body con dress and still haven’t found a pair that doesn’t show seams. Thanks!

    • Thanks so much! I have some True & Co seamless undies that don’t show, but I still haven’t found the perfect pair that don’t ride up with dresses! Perhaps I’ll try my favorite Gap breathe undies in a boyshort fit? This is always a struggle, I agree!

  2. I think the Treasure and Bond dress looks so much nicer on you than the models. I would never get it based on their pictures, but on you, it’s really cute! I do think I like the Amazon one better, though, too. I may try it! Also, I was watching Ree Drummond (I really love her) do her show from home with her kids there in quarantine and she referred to jeans as “hard pants” and o can’t stop laughing at the truth of that! ?

    • Hahaha “hard pants” AMAZING. And thank you! I think the Amazon one is a solid find and yes perhaps a little bit softer than the Treasure & Bond, too!

  3. I ordered the Nordstrom dress and found the fabric oddly scratchy. Agreed it feels like it runs small, too. In case anyone was wondering, I also found the Leith dress from Nordstrom a bit on the snug side. I would size up if I were to buy another color (but I also carry all my weight in my midsection, so maybe “bodycon” is just never going to please me…)

    • Ah yeah the Treasure & Bond dress gets a little better with wear, but the Amazon one is just a little bit softer I think.

  4. I would beg to disagree. The Amazon dress looks too slouchy and sloppy. I don’t know how but your boobs look tired in the red dress and I can from the back it’s not good. The dark dress from Nordstrom looks trimmer and better put together. Wrong choice to go with the Amazon dress.
