Weekly Sales Report 8.25

Happy Friday! Is it starting to feel a tiiiiny bit like fall to you guys, or is it just us manifesting layering-appropriate weather? Bring on the jackets, blazers, sweaters and coats because we’re getting more excited by the minute. Adios, teeny tank tops.

It’s seeming like our fave retailers are getting this chilly weather vibe too because there are many end-of-summer sales going on right now (and even some early Labor Day sales…early by more than a week, sheesh). Arguably the most notable: Reformation’s 50% off sale has captivated us this week, making us want to sneak some Ref dresses into the fall months (because DUH, those prices). Shana’s linen low-back maxi is one of the best in the sale and can totally be transitioned into cooler weather.

More summer’s end finds? These white jeans that Laura scooped (that “no white after Labor Day” rule is so bogus, btw), Scotti’s sexy denim corset top (ooo… maybe with cords for fall?), and these tan Sorel sandals that Em says are her most-worn. Such good stuff.

Laura’s Top Sale Picks

Hey, hey, Friday! This week was a weird one all around…kiddo’s overnight camp got delayed due to smoke, but then she finally got to go back for the week on Tuesday afternoon. The house has been incredibly quiet…which I thought I would love, but honestly it’s just weird. Haha… Parenthood is a freaking trip, y’all. Pinky and I had a downtown date night last night and got to see The Swell Season again after many years (remember the movie “Once”?) Gah. Beautiful.

This season is always weird for me too. I don’t know what to wear, and it’s too hot to feel inspired for fall, but I’m currently excited by these Puma sneakers that look surprisingly like my Nike Dunks but with platform soles (part of BOGO 50% off at Rack Room shoes, btw! These would be my second pick!). Yesterday, I just got rid of over half of my jeans collection that no longer fit (yeah, that was fun), so I need to find a comfy, cute new pair. These might be contenders! Lastly, found the cutest Halloween sweater ever that’s actually wearable. SO cute! And 25% off everything over at American Eagle.

Jeans (29) | Watch

ONE: Sizes going quickly, but these white rag & bone white jeans are some of the only jeans I love right now. The fit is great, and the cut is easy to wear. BTW, they aren’t see-through. Love them. True to size for me. Wearing a 29.

TWO: This watchband has been a game-changer for my Apple Watch when I want to be more dressy. Love it, and it’s super-easy to adjust the size with the clip-in segments…no tiny tools necessary.

I’m in Chicago this weekend with my besties from high school, and we’re going to see Boyz II Men tomorrow night! OMG, that album was on repeat back in the day. “On Bended Knee,” “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday,” “Motownphilly” — I am SO excited! I never laugh like I do with these girls (the gummies don’t hurt either). 😂

I was able to pop into Nordstrom the other day and found a few gems on sale that I would normally have overlooked, specifically this suuuuper-soft olive green bodysuit (size up — I’m wearing the medium and am usually a small) and this black wrap bodysuit that goes with everything. (Some reviewers complain that there aren’t any snaps, but I actually like that because it’s more comfortable, and the fit is great). My other top pick this week? These MOTHER jeans that are over $75 off!

Bodysuit (small), Jeans (4, run big) | Cami (6), Skirt (6)

ONE: This Free People bodysuit is over 60% off ($31 down from $98!), and it’s one of my favorites — perfect for layering under blazers, and the blouson waist is forgiving. I’m layering it over my SKIMS Fits Everybody cami bodysuit, which is the ultimate layering/styling wardrobe piece.  (The jeans are also on sale, but only available in a few sizes at Nordstrom and Shopbop!)

TWO: Speaking of layering pieces, this denim corset top from Express is on sale, and reviewers love it as much as I do. I’ll layer it under an oversized blazer and high-waisted jeans this fall. (The denim maxi skirt isn’t on sale, but it’s super-comfy and fits great! And at $78, it’s much less than some other options out there!)

Does anyone remember when I mentioned “these perfectly fall-ready pants” in last week’s Sales Report? WELL, I bought them, and they’re AB-SO-LUTE-LY the most perfect pants for the upcoming season, without a doubt.

The pants are so good, I debated trying to whip up an entire blog post dedicated to them, but I’m not sure how long they’ll be on sale — OR how long the stock will last. They’re right on trend with the cargo style, but unlike traditional cargo jeans that are usually quite heavy, these are supremely lightweight and soft. I’ll post a photo below + all the places you can scoop them up on sale! As for other weekend sale faves? This cozy layer I fell in love with last year…and ooo, these.

Pants (28): NordstromSaksBloomingdale’s | Sweatshirt (M)

ONE: MOTHER usually runs small for me, but when I read the fabric makeup was viscose and linen, I swung for the fences and grabbed my true size 28 in these glorious cargo pants, and they’re PERFECT. At 5’9”, the length is amazing too. I’ll be wearing these NONSTOP this fall.

TWO: Another sale item I scooped up last week: This sweatshirt comes in the *cutest* prints for Halloween/fall/spooky season. It’s lightweight and on the thin side (for a sweatshirt), which makes it just as good for hotter fall climates. The sweatshirt is oversized, has really well-done distressing elements around the collar and cuffs, and drapes juuuuust right.

School is back in swing, Maria (our “amity,” or student teacher from Spain, that we’re hosting for the next five months) is all settled in, and we’re starting to see consecutive days of sunshine in Half Moon Bay. Can’t complain, honestly — which, for a cynical gal like me, says a lot.

Random little assortment of things catching my eye this week: This Veronica Beard dress is positively gorgeous — the allover eyelet details are everything — and 55% off. These shoes got me through two years of indoor workouts during the pandemic, and they’re just $38 right now (they’re also just cute, super-comfy, lightweight sneakers for every day). And if you have littles, this is on my short list of toy organizers, and it’s $90 off right now.

Have a great weekend, friends! —Em

Bag | Sandals

ONE: I’ve been reaching for this classic The Sak hobo bag daily. The quality is so superb, and it lends just an elegant, unfussy ease to everything (while still feeling whimsically 90’s). It’s under $100 right now with code ULTIMATE. And all washes in my Levi’s are just $55 right now too. I’m wearing the “Medium” wash in my usual size 25.

TWO: Sizes are starting to sell out, but these remain my favorite tan sandals (walkable for MILES, and they look good with literally everything). Still on sale, so get them while you can. True to size.

This week, Bogotá’s weather is getting me ready for fall. I’m headed to pick up a pair of cowboy boots I had to get made-to-measure (my calves are special). Then, tomorrow we’re going to my dad’s pueblo. He was born and raised in a little village in the Andes of Colombia about 90 minutes north of Bogotá, and I promised my great aunt, who’s like a mom to him, that I’d come and visit with the boys. It’ll be their first time, and I’m so excited to show them a part of where they come from.

I love the non-ripped wash & substantial fabric of Levi's ribcage straight-leg jeans.

ONE: Levi’s Ribcage Straight-Leg Jeans – I love the non-ripped wash and substantial fabric, which makes them perfect for the fall and winter. Nordstrom has them on sale in the 27-inch-inseam ankle length.

Currently packing up the car for our upcoming visit to Sky Valley, Georgia. The only other place I’ve visited in GA is Atlanta, and Sky Valley is supposed to be the complete opposite: mountains, hiking trails, waterfalls, etc. I can’t wait. Would love any suggestions from anyone who’s been in the area before.

As for sales, Gap is having a storewide 30% off sale, or 40% off when you buy 4 or more items. Also lately, I’ve been rediscovering my love for Nordstrom Rack; there’s so much good stuff there right now, especially in the Contemporary Section

Coat | Pants

ONE: Gap’s Icon Trench Coat – It’s called the Icon Trench for a reason, and it also comes in an olive color, which I’m honestly loving just as much as the khaki. Gap’s sale that’s going on right now is 30% off everything or 40% off 4 or more items. Score!

TWO: Banana Republic Factory’s Cargo Pants – I just keep coming back to these high-waisted cargo pants because the price keeps getting better. Not only are they 50% off, but they’re also an extra 20% off at checkout. They come in four great colors.

This week was busy and exciting, but it also put a real damper on my desire to start wearing my fall favorites. It’s hot here, friends. So, I put my striped sweaters back in my dresser and pulled some favorite dresses and skirts out of my closet for wear. Fortunately, there are some great warm-weather pieces on sale right now. I love this cool colorblocked dress at Shopbop, these fun and funky heels, and this timeless STAUD bag.

Dress (L) | Skirt (32)

ONE: This chic and simple Vince dress is now on sale at Shopbop. This is so easy to take from summer into fall with a gorgeous cashmere cardigan.

TWO: Denim skirts are still trending, and this Gap pencil skirt is on sale and looks so similar to the rag & bone Sukato skirt that has gone in and out of stock. There’s just enough stretch in the denim to make this skirt super-comfortable.

Incredibly creative and artistic, Abby is the one we turn to for absolutely jaw-dropping, stunning curation. She’s got a knack for finding hidden gems and has the ability to make any space beautiful, plus her own style is enviable. Abby is one of the few team members who is not afraid of color, so her contributions (both digitally and in real life) feel like a breath of fresh air. She manages to come up with options that are both wildly original…and exactly what we want to wear.

  1. Emily, I missed out on the teardrop Reknit bag from Everlane you posted about a couple years ago and I still think of it.. I’m thinking the Sak hobo could be a pretty close substitute!
