We Need To Talk About This CBD Face Oil

I’ve recently changed my nighttime skincare routine. Well…changed might be too strong of a word — tweaked is more accurate. But yes: the nighttime routine that I have literally been following for years (religiously!!) has been altered.

Alert the authorities.

Why I’m Adding Colleen Rothschild CBD Face Oil To My Nighttime Skincare Routine

Anyway, if you recall, I put together a video on my anti-aging nighttime routine (including how I use the micro-needler). The routine basically consists of this makeup-melting oil based cleanser, a micro-needler, a retinol serum, and a hyaluronic acid moisturizing cream.

The retinol serum I had used for years was an over-the-counter one by Colleen Rothschild.  It’s good, but over-the-counter will never be as powerful as prescription retinol. So…I switched to a prescription retinol, figuring that it was time. I went with Dear Brightly’s retinol, and plan is to use it for 8 weeks, then do a thorough review. I’m currently three weeks in, but three things have happened:

One, retinol has been making my skin dry. Like…really, really dry. Slathering on Colleen Rothchild’s Extreme Recovery Cream has definitely helped, but I’m still only using the retinol every other day because of the dryness.

Two, I happened to get a care package from Colleen Rothschild last week…sending me their newest product: a CBD face oil. It turns out that this freaking miracle product is uber-moisturizing, and is especially amazing for dry and stressed skin. I promptly added it into my nighttime routine (on the non-retinol days) and voila!! My skin is so happy. I’m shocked at the difference. Project Prescription Retinol can continue!

Three, Colleen Rothschild is currently having a friends & family sale ($25 off orders of $100, $50 off orders of $200+ with code HAPPY50) so…I had to pop on and at least mention the CBD oil. It’s GOOD, you guys.

This CBD oil is so freaking good that I’ve started using it in the morning as well.  It’s insanely moisturizing, yet leaves a pretty, matte finish — something that’s rare for face oils.

The one thing I’ve gotta mention is that Colleen Rothchild’s CBD oil has a pretty strong smell — at least initially. It does wear off. The good news is that the smell isn’t chemical… it’s…how to put it….it smells like hemp. Frankly, it’s pretty terrible. Hemp kinda smells like something herbally, earthy, vegetable-y…weedy.

But whatevs. Totally worth it.

More soon — once I’ve finished testing the prescription retinol. Anyone else tried it?

  1. I’m only 1 week into my Dear Brightly retinol 😁 so like 2 applications I will let you know. As for CBD I’ve never used it on my face but Love for sleep when I’m too anxious to sleep. I am for VT so CBD is pretty well known it’s kind of everywhere in everything !( Heck my family’s organic dairy and vegetable farm grows hemp )

  2. I’m intrigued! Can you explain why you don’t use the CBD oil on retinol days? And on retinol days, do you only follow with Extreme Recovery Cream?
