Black Friday sales have been basically popping up throughout the entire month of November, so we’ve been hard at work for weeks, pulling together a comprehensive (yet hopefully well-edited) guide to the best Black Friday deals worth shopping.
Some of our predictions are based on historical data (what retailers have done in the past), some sales we know about because a retailer was kind enough to share, and some? ….Well…the sales have long been announced, going fast and furious.

One of our first stops for Black Friday shopping is almost always beauty. Colleen Rothschild’s oil-based cleanser has been my go-to for years, Biossance’s Rose Oil and Lactic Acid Serum give me the prettiest glow, and Elemis’ bouncy eye mask, with its lemon souffle-like texture, and ultra-rich SPF cream are high on my list this year. I may also pick up a few gifts: Thaitian Monoi body scrubs or lotion at Colleen Rothschild, or, the really giftable sets at Biossance, Elemis or Kiehl’s.

On Black Friday, we’re all about boots, coats, cashmere & jeans. And mayyyyyybe a fun (read: fancy) little something to wear for upcoming holiday festivities.
The Best Winter Boots On Sale For Black Friday
Sorel | Backcountry | Zappos
For Black Friday, when we need serious winter boots, our first stop is usually Sorel. And, quite frankly, that’s for the whole family. But don’t overlook Zappos, which will often have a wider range of cold-weather brands on sale (and sometimes last season’s styles, too) or Backcountry. Both Zappos and Backcountry have really good filters, so you can sort down to the exact size and type of boot you’re looking for.
The Best Cashmere On Sale For Black Friday
Nordstrom | J.Crew | Naadam | Naked Cashmere | Jenni Kayne
We’re loving J.Crew cashmere right now, but it’s often excluded from their sales (worth checking, however). Naadam is usually our first stop for serious Black Friday deals (and their sustainably-made cashmere is deliciously good), but I also appreciate Naked Cashmere’s take on Black Friday. Instead of discounting their already well-priced sustainable cashmere, they’ve released a Black Friday collection in a slightly thinner gauge. And? It’s good. I have this piece, and it’s the kind of thing I find myself grabbing on the daily. Think: easy like a t-shirt, but in cozy cashmere.
The Best Coats On Sale For Black Friday
Nordstrom | J.Crew | Macy’s | Backcountry | Banana Republic | Sweaty Betty
The best deals on coats can usually be found at Macy’s (a retailer that especially shines if you’re looking for a classic, wool coat). J.Crew’s coats are our pick for classics with a twist (a fresh color, unexpected detail) and they’ll typically go on sale during November. And don’t overlook Nordstrom’s sale section (they add to it throughout the month of November), or Backcountry, if you’re looking for something a little more rugged or active. Lastly, Banana Republic and Sweaty Betty have some shockingly good coats this year; definitely worth checking out.
The Best Jeans On Sale for Black Friday
rag & bone | Saks Fifth Avenue | Good American | Shopbop | Revolve
The best denim sales have been, historically, at Saks Fifth Avenue. The other big retailers (Nordstrom, Shopbop) are good, too, but sizes and styles can be more limited. We’ve also had more at the brands’ websites (rag & bone, Good American, etc.,), but then you are left at the mercy of their shipping timelines.
The Best Bags & Accessories On Sale For Black Friday
Nordstrom | ABLE | Saks Fifth Avenue
Bags are really hit or miss on Black Friday. We almost never see the big, BIG designers’ brands on sale (YSL, etc.,), but we often do have luck with what I’m calling ‘everyday designer:” Clare V, AllSaints, Rebecca Minkoff, Staud. I have my fingers crossed that sustainable retailer ABLE will have some of their gorgeous bags on sale this year. As an example, this is the Black Friday handbag sale filter at Nordstrom I use.
The Best Pajamas & Lounge On Sale For Black Friday
Printfresh | Nordstrom | Shopbop | J.Crew
Small business Printfresh has up to 30% off this Black Friday, and they’re one of our favorite pajamas…EVER. (And they just came out with flannel, which I’m dying to try.) Other than that, we also recommend searching through retailers like Nordstrom and Shopbop for PJs from Cosabella, Eberjay, etc. Lastly, we also really like J.Crew’s fun selection of PJs. They’re great.
The Best Activewear On Sale For Black Friday
Athleta | Reformation | Adidas | Lululemon
Usually, athletic wear is typically pretty picked over by Black Friday, leaving us with a random pair of leggings or two. This year, however, there’s some seriously exciting sales – Athleta is 20% off everything, Ref is 25% as two examples – and we’re finding a ton of great stuff. And don’t miss Lululemon, either. Their current Black Friday section is chock full of our favorites (like align leggings and tanks). ps. Team fav, Vuori, doesn’t typically do Black Friday sales, but they sometimes offer a gift with purchase on Black Friday.
The Best Shoes & Boots On Sale For Black Friday
Nordstrom | Zappos | Adidas | Saks Fifth Avenue
This is a category to really dive into. There are a TON of shoes, boots and sneakers on sale during November. This is a great time to replace your old sneaks, or find new boots for that tricky new denim trend without spending a fortune. Don’t overlook slippers, either. There are a ton on sale.
The Best Tops & Sweaters On Sale For Black Friday
Nordstrom | J.Crew | Banana Republic | Madewell | Vince
Looking for a fun little holiday top? Try J.Crew. Interesting sweaters? Nordstrom or Banana Republic (the latter has a ton of gorgeous emerald green). This is one category that almost all of our favorite retailers do well. And (again, based on history) don’t miss Vince’s site. They typically have a pretty epic Black Friday sale.
The Best Dresses On Sale For Black Friday
Saks OFF | Reformation | J.Crew | Anthropologie
My favorite places to shop for holiday dresses are either Saks OFF or Reformation. Ref won’t have any major sales until much closer to Black Friday, but the deals at Saks OFF are stellar now. J.Crew has come to the table with some seriously good holiday dresses this year, as has Anthro. Nordstrom’s sale section of dresses is completely overwhelming, but there are some good pieces if you dig.
The Best Black Friday Deals For Home: Kitchen, Appliances, Bedding & Tech
This is the area that, quite frankly, we get the most excited about. We upgrade our Kindles, decide we’re into the next big thing in baking (so obvi, a stand mixer), and gift our parents Nespresso machines. We also love a good fire pit, a vacuum and the coziest throws.

If Laura, Em and Linzi are right…then everyone needs an Instant Pot. Other useful Black Friday deals that we see every year? Nespresso machines (yasss), smart ovens, crock pots, KitchenAid Stand Mixers, and — my personal favorite — reallllly good knives. Our SodaStream also gets a ton of use over here. For all the soaps and cleaning products — check out Blueland (a recent sustainable favorite).

I suspect that sustainably made Paravel is probably NOT going to have a Black Friday sale…but a girl can hope. Other than Paravel, I can personally recommend TUMI (best sale selection is at Saks OFF), Delsey (best sale selection is at Amazon), and Samsonite (again, best selection is Amazon). If you’re looking for duffle bags (aka the best luggage for road trips), then try Backcountry.

Some easy wins on Black Friday include Dyson vacuums, the Kindle Paperwhite, projectors, Nest thermostats and (my personal favorite) Molekule air filters. They’ve been a game-changer for this allergy-plagued girl.
The Best Black Friday Deals in Bedding, Linen & Home Decor

The one sale that is NOT to be missed (arguably in all categories) is Parachute. Several of us swear by Parachute’s linen sheets, and with each new person that tries them…Parachute earns a new devotee — they’re THAT good. I also happen to love their towels, too (we have the ‘classic’ line). Nordstrom currently has a pretty epic selection of light-up Christmas trees on sale, which are tempting (I’m typically a real tree or die kind of girl, but with all of our travel, it hasn’t been working all that well).
The Best Black Friday Deals On Outdoor Gear

For most of us, “outdoor” Black Friday deals usually mean Smartwool socks. Recently, I’ve been going in more of a Darn Tough socks direction (made in Vermont, seems to last longer than my Smartwool), but they’re almost never on sale. I’ll be using that link to check back from time to time. Also, if anyone is trying to gear themselves (or kids) up for ski season, Backcountry’s sale section is pretty good for ski clothes, helmets, goggles and mittens, and I still love Sweaty Betty’s ski pants and baselayers.

Nope – there are so many daily sales, we’re trying as hard as we can to keep up. Most places are just shifting codes (so much so that I think we’ll stop including them). The best thing to do is click through to get the latest code.
