When I think of summer, I think of super-easy beauty routines. Hair slicked back into a ponytail or air-dried waves, fresh, dewy skin . . . and bright lips. Wearing bold colors on your lips is the easiest (and fastest) way to look put together. A purple shade can brighten tired, sallow skin, an orange one looks amazing with a tan, and a classic red, well, red just always looks good. Keep it simple and leave the rest of your makeup minimal. Wear tinted moisturizer and a bit of cream blush during the day. and add a bit of mascara and highlighter for night. Cut your beauty routine in half and let your lips do the talking—er—you know what I mean.

Here are my 10 all-time favorite bold lip colors for summer:

  1. That Urban Decay lip line in Bang looks amazing! Shopping enabler Strikes again, lol. Can’t wait to try it out. Thank you for the post. A new bold lip is such an easy and fun way to overhaul your summer look.

    • You’re so welcome! I love rounding up my favorites like this – let me know if you ever want to see a post on something specific. I’m thinking about doing my top 10 highlighters . . .

  2. I love your list! I also love the Trish McEvoy lip crayon color ‘plum’. This is long lasting and also can be used on your cheeks! Check it out.

  3. I was actually looking for a tinted moisturizer/ primer layer that I can wear on its own. Summer in Atlanta does not lend itself well to any sort of makeup with any sort of real coverage. I guess I’m loosing for something that will look more dewy and not super glowy if that makes sense.

I was looking at the Charlotte Tilsbury Hollywood flawless filter that you suggested before. But I’m not sure how much coverage/ glow that would provide.

It seems like you’ve done a roundup of those sorts of products before but I haven’t gone digging yet.

Or a mascara roundup? I never know what the difference is between the products or really if there is much of one. My biggest issue is finding one that doesn’t irritate my eyes.

I’m not even much of a makeup person but I really like your posts!

  4. Scotti, I would love to see a roundup of non-orange, non-glittery bronzers in a range of budget options. It’s a never ending quest for a pale person who likes to warm up a little in the summer!
