Pairing Bright Colors with Bright Lips

So Mother’s Day was cold (surprise surprise), but I wanted to channel spring.  I grabbed a bright top from my closet and paired it with Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick, who just came out with some amazing limited-edition bright summer colors.  I bought three and want to try the others!  Bright lips are an easy way to look put together when you’re short on time, and this particular formula withstood our kiss test!

Top: Vince Camuto Short Sleeve Blouse

Lips: Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Amalfi

Shoes: Nine West Lildarlin’s in Purple Nubuck

Earrings: Gold & Turquoise hoops (similar)

I LOVE sweatshirts (and trying out the Selfie Stick!)

I never thought I’d say that, but I have been loving sweatshirts lately.  They’re so comfortable and if I want to dress them up I can throw on a pair of boyfriend jeans, heels, add some bright lips and I’m ready.  Easy peasy.

Top: (Similar) Black Floral Sweatshirt,  this baseball-t style Rose Sweatshirt, or this top by Hinge has such a unique tie-back

Jeans: Express Destroyed Boyfriend Jeans

Lips: Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Como

Sandals: Sam Edelman’s Sabrina if you want a bit of a heel or these gladiator sandals from Topshop if you want (gorgeous) flats!

Earrings: BaubleBar

The Jeans that I’m living in . . .

Jeans: Express Boyfriend Jeans

Top: (Similar color) pink chiffon top

Shoes: Nine West D’Orsay Pumps

Earrings: BaubleBar Ear Crawlers

Necklace: BaubleBar

Peasant top with flares . . . Hit or Miss?

Idk . . . I didn’t really like this outfit.  I thought “good enough” when I left the house, but it wasn’t my favorite.  Something was just off.  Maybe it’s the fact that I’m wearing Sorels in May . . .

Jeans: Express mid-rise flares

Boots: Sorel wedges (yes, still cold enough to wear them here some days)

Tank: Favorite Mossimo tank

Shirt: Peasant top (similar, but I like how the bottom of this one is open instead of gathered like mine)

Dressed Up Boyfriend Jeans

Remember when I said I’ve been living in these jeans?  Seriously.  Dressed down with a tee or sweatshirt and dressed up with heels and a sparkly top.

Jacket: Pink Mocha Trench

Jeans: Girlfriend Jeans

Top: Express Metallic Tank (similar)

Shoes: Sam Edelman (similar)

Purse: Michael Kors (similar)

My favorite outfit from Dallas . . . Trying to channel warm weather up here!

I already posted this on Instagram, but it’s one of my favorite outfits and I know I’ll be wearing some version of this throughout the spring and summer.  Gladiator sandals + boyfriend denim shorts + Barcelona cami + Jacket or blazer = perfect formula! (Ok, maybe perfect is pushing it, but I’m loving it!) The key to the slouchy boyfriend shorts (if you have a bigger booty, like me) is to size up!  I normally wear a 6, for example, but would try an 8 or a 10 to get the baggy look I want.

Denim shorts: Old, but these Volcom shorts look awesome

Shoes: Sam Edelman

Top: Barcelona Cami

Jacket: Old, this one from ASOS is on serious sale right now!

Lips: Stila Stay the Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso

Now, on to You!

@foxsummer kills it by mixing up accessories to the simple jeans and t-shirt combo

@cbdesignshop mixes color beautifully (all the time . . . check out her pics!)

I loved @glfleck‘s unexpected color/pattern pairing and @krembdelakremb‘s flirty white skirt

@the_fly_mommy‘s pics of her and her daughter are awesome . . . not to mention those bright colors!

I LOVE how this is taking off . . . there were seriously way too many amazing outfits to choose from.  This is just a (very) small sampling of what caught my eye this week!

To play along, tag your pics with #myeverydayedit and follow me, @scottiliz, and @shanachristine, @camilledipaola and @girlmeetsbaby to see what we’re wearing!

  1. Love everything about this post. Totally giving me inspiration for post baby and upping my fashion game again! Love the S sisters.

Was there a post about what Scottie liked to wear in that dreaded 4th trimester (summer focused?). I’m totally out of ideas!

  2. I adore the Stila lipsticks!!! True to their name…they really do stay all day! And Beso is the perfect red!

      • Thanks Beth! I actually prefer the girlfriend jeans . . . they’re a great option for those of us who don’t look good in traditional boyfriend jeans. And which jewelry would you like the links to? I included some links to my earrings and necklaces if you click on the hyperlinks below the pics! 🙂

        • I’ll have to try the girlfriend jeans- for boyfriend jeans don’t always work for me. And the bracelets! Love all your bracelets!!!

  3. Hi Scotti!

Like you a super, super LOVE a bold lip! I’ve tried Stila Beso, but for some reason after about an hour that weird line between the painted lip and the wet part really starts to bug me. Although it does last all day, I always just find it looks weird on me. Maybe I’ll give it another try in one of these new bright colors just to see.

Scotti! The lippy that I can’t get enough of is Bourjois’ Rouge Edition. Have you tried it?! So good!! Like the Stila one, you paint it on and it dries to a matte like finish, but it doesn’t solidify quite like the Stila. In fact my lips kind of get stained by it. I just purchased a peach one yesterday, and it’s going to be my new favorite orange. I recommend trying Hot Pepper (it’s like a orangish red like NARS Heat Wave, but way better–if that’s possible), Pink Pong, and now Peach Club. Anyway, I think you’ll be impressed. I have others but those are my top three and my new go tos for the bold, bright lip.

Finally, dear Scotti! Thank you for including me with the #myeverydayedit! I love it when you guys like me outfits. I just gush inside!! The full post to all the pics in this dress may be found here. I actually designed that dress and four others for a fashion show that I participated in at the school where I work. Amazingly, somehow, the dress fit me. This was my first drawing and set the theme for my whole Kremb de la Kremb collection/entry into giving design a try. It was such fun!! And of course, which woman doesn’t love a swirly twirly skirt. (Well there may be some, but I’m definitely not one of them!)

I love The Mom Edit and all that you ladies inspire for us fellow moms. Big hug!!

Ann from Kremb de la Kremb
