Cute Jeans, Furry Coats & Combat Boots: One of My Most-Worn Outfits Thus Far

There’s an outfit I’ve been wearing on repeat these days — always a good sign. It’s casual but nice-looking, in that Maybe I’m Going Somewhere Or Maybe I’m Just Chic sort of way. It’s warm and comfortable, too, and totally appropriate for the intense amounts of walking we do in downtown Philly.

Current Go-To Outfit: Cute Jeans, Fuzzy Coat & Combat Boots

The five individual pieces that make up the outfit — while I’ve been wearing them together pretty heavily — also happen to be items that play nicely with the rest of my wardrobe. Very useful, for Someone Who Cares About Versatility. (Don’t be fooled — that’s just a nice way of saying ‘wears the same thing everyday’.)

1. Dr. Martens Leona Boot

After months of debate….my combat boot search is over. I ended up keeping the Dr Martens Leona boots and couldn’t be happier. They’re insanely comfy, give me a few extra inches of height, and I’ve been getting a ton of compliments on them due to their ‘feminine vibe’.

I mean…they’re still Docs. But there’s definitely a little somethin-somethin.

BTW…I’ve been trying on winter coats like crazy…trying to figure out which ones look best with combat boots (besides my faux fur, obvi). I’ve been documenting my results here, if anyone is interested.

2. Patagonia Lunar Frost Jacket

I am seriously obsessed with this piece. It’s made from recycled polyester (yasss, Patagonia) and I have literally hiked* in it…then wore it out to dinner.

*more of a walk in the woods but STILL

If anyone is interested, I also styled this jacket up as part of a hockey mom look over on Nordstrom, here.

3. Bobeau Cozy Heathered V-Neck Sweater

It’s hard to beat Bobeau for sheer coziness, and this sweater is no exception. “Sweater” is a misnomer, though — think along the lines of a thick tee, or a really thin and drapey sweatshirt. This all means, of course, that I can tuck it into jeans.

A Few More Casual Tops I Love…

4. GRLFRND Karolina Jeans

Some of my longtime favorite jeans, GRLFRND’s Karolinas, are actually the perfect jean for combat boots. I typically pair these jeans with sneaks and tees in the fall, strappy sandals and tanks in the summer…but I hadn’t quite figured out my winter uniform.

My only issue, of course, is that the heavily distressed ones are a bit cold. I love how they look, but I might also pick up either this pair or this pair as an option once the temps really drop.

These jeans really have become — over the last year or so — my new favorite jeans. They tend to start out a little tight, then soften with age. But they soften in a way that fits, rather than just get saggy in the bum. Uh…see below. 🙂

Additional Washes (GRLFRND Karolina Jeans)

If you’d like to see a few other ways I’d style up these GRLFRND Karolina jeans, I’ve made a few Nordstrom Looks: Here’s an outfit idea for date night (with the fab distressed pair), here’s another almost-fancy outfit (with peacoats & combat boots), and here’s an easy winter weekend outfit (also with combat boots).

5. Clare V. Clutch

I’ve had this Clare V. clutch for years. Know when I use it the most? When I’m wearing black on the bottom (boots and/or jeans) and white on the top. The whole-white-on-top-black-on-bottom thing can start to look boring, but I find that this little clutch manages to bring them together quite nicely.

A huge thank you to Nordstrom & ShopStyle for sponsoring this post! Nordstrom continues to impress by adding my favorite brands (oh hey, GRLFRND denim), and I couldn’t be more thrilled to work with them. As always, all thoughts, opinions and product choices are my own. And readers, thank you for your continued support. It doesn’t go unnoticed and is so very much appreciated.

  1. Love this post! I am a faithful Doc Marten’s wearer since high school, so I love seeing them styled different ways. I’m currently wearing them with all the cuffed skinny jeans and black turtlenecks I can find and a camel overcoat. It’s my uniform for this winter!
