While I love a good adventure now and again, I am also a creature of habit. It’s why we know everyone who works at Pub & Kitchen and/or Trattoria Carina, it’s why I am annoyed when I finish a book series (I mean…what am I supposed to do NOW?) and it’s why, more often than not, I’m wearing stripes.
Stripes are my favorite color. And right now, in this sort of sometimes-cool-sometimes-blazing-hot June, I really want to wear my stripes with flares. And — in a move that is nothing short of expected, admittedly almost cliche — I want to wear comfy wedges with my flares, then finish things off with a straw bag. A la Jane Birkin.
So when Nordstrom reached out, asking for some June inspiration…I immediately went looking for stripes. Finding a good striped tee was easy (they call to me, I swear), the flares a cinch (bonus: these make your bum look like a sun), but the wedges? I tried on…oh….seven pairs before finding one I could walk in. Obviously UGG Australia was the winner, because if it ain’t broke….

striped tee: Gibson x Hi Sugarplum! Siesta Tee (xs for reference) – obsessed with the elegant elbow-length sleeves and perfect drape. This is a good one.
jeans: Veronica Beard Farrah Wide-Leg Jeans (24 for reference) – these are the most exciting things I’ve seen in denim right now. Sun bum, that’s all I’m sayin’.
wedges: UGG Australia Harlow Platform Wedge Sandal -walked a literal mile in this the first time I wore them. They’re not sneakers, but I like have a high-heel option that is, in fact, walkable. (Even if I’m slower than usual.)
bag: Ugh….this one sold out before I could publish. Man, these straw bags are a thing right now. Never fear, I rounded up a few more below….
