Hey, fellow sneaker fans. You’ve seen a few pics of my latest high-tops obsession, but I’m here to offer more ideas on styling. I wear these puppies almost every day, literally. I have them on right now. But I hear you that sometimes high tops are harder to style.
I think what I find best for my shorter frame/leg length is finding more of a mid-top sneaker instead of a true high-top. And that’s where it gets a little tricky. The ones I have and love are PERFECT, and they show some ankle. It looks like Converse has a mid-top now, too, yay! Has anyone tried it? Ooh, and Adidas with this one. SO good. (And from a sustainable company.)
The question here is what do I NOT wear high-tops with, really?! They work with just about everything. Any ankle-length or cropped jeans or pants are a perfect combo with these comfy shoes. You kinda can’t go wrong as long as the pants hit above the high-top. That’s the key. Let’s check out some options.
Outfit Ideas for Wearing High-Tops
1. High-Tops + Sweatshirt & Plaid Pants
You saw this one recently here. I love it for a rare, non-jeans look for me. The pants are comfy and just something different to mix it up. I’m a big fan of cropped pants and in a small plaid print for the most flattering combo here.

2. High-Tops + Sweatshirt & Skinny Ankle Jeans
I wear this outfit often, with or without a jacket, and I love it. This is the easy thing to throw on for the weekends, running around, etc., One of my most-worn outfits right now.

3. High-Tops + Jeans & A Statement Coat
I love a good statement coat, whether it be plaid or leopard…it just makes any basic outfit look so so interesting, cozy and cool for fall and winter. More on this soon!

4. Off To A Workout: High-Tops + Leggings & A Hoodie
Let’s be real…this is the second most-worn outfit here. Leggings are a big part of my week before and after barre3, and these green leopard beauties are in high rotation. SO fun. And the high tops just feel cooler than a running sneaker.

5. High-Tops + A Cozy Sweater Tunic & Moto Jeans
Talk about a cozy outfit…this is good. The moto jeans add just a bit of edge, as do the high-tops in this combo. You know I love mixing preppy/chic with sporty & edgy. My favorite thing!

6. High-Tops + A Plaid Blazer, Graphic Tee & Cropped Straight Leg Jeans
If you’ve been following some of my OOTD pics over on Instagram, you know this look is totally my jam this fall. The straight leg jeans are a nice update to skinny jeans and cropping them allows them to go easily with all of my higher shaft boots and all my high-tops. I also have these on right now. It’s just a cute combination for wherever you’re going, and the blazer pulls the outfit together.

If you’ve seen any more mid-top sneakers, as always, please share! They are a bit harder to find out there, but I am betting they’ll become a favorite of yours, too, if you share my love of a good sporty shoe. I hope this helps visualize how you might style a pair up, too.

A fellow sneaker gal- I love it!
I am in the UK and just bought some Air and Grace mid tops – this has been useful, thank you. I wasn’t sure they would work with straight crop jeans, but they’re my most worn pair so am very pleased. Tried it after reading this and will now be wearing the combination on repeat! Thanks again x
Oh awesome, thank you, Emma! I’ll have to check those out, too.
