Little Black Dresses Too Good To Pass Up

I’ve been a fan of Good American since I first tried their jeans a couple of years ago. Their message about inclusivity and body positivity is refreshing, and they back that up with sizing from 00-24 (along with pictures of all shapes and sizes of models) in every pair of jeans they sell. I’ll admit I was skeptical when I tried their skinny bermuda shorts, but ended up loving the fit just as much as their jeans. So when I heard they had made dresses, I hoped they’d be just as good. (Spoiler alert: they were.) Here were my favorites:

The Scoop Back Midi Dress

Sooooo comfortable! This fabric is super-soft and stretches to fit curves. There are actually two layers of fabric, so it smooths over cellulite and has more coverage than a typical bodycon dress. The straps are adjustable (yay!), and the side slit is sexy without being overly revealing. I tried the size 1/small as their jeans tend to run about one size big and it fit great. I can’t say enough about this dress. LOVE.

The Ribbed Midi Dress

This one is AWESOME.  If you’re looking for a dress that shapes you like shapewear (but is still comfortable), this is it.  It’s made of compression fabric that’s double-layered so it smooths EVERYTHING and there’s no worrying about cellulite (even more than the scoop back midi).  YES!  I love how the neckline balances out wider hips.  This one ran a bit smaller than the other two due to the fabric (you can see it kind of smooshes my boobs a bit too much).  I was wearing a size 1/small in these pics and since it was too small the 2/medium is currently on its way to me.

The 90s Dress

This one is crazy comfortable and soft — like the material of the scoop back midi. It’s also double-lined to smooth your skin, and I love the asymmetrical neckline and thin straps. I’m wearing a size 1 here, and I think it fits perfectly. I’d wear this with an oversized denim jacket or my new favorite: a kimono!

*A note about the sandals I’m wearing in the pics: This style was my favorite years ago and I wore them down to the nail (and then some). I was so excited to see another version of them . . .they’re the next best thing to wearing nothing, they make your legs look long and they give you just a bit of height without being super-uncomfortable. They literally go with everything.

  1. I love the new concept of being able to change models. But why don’t they change them to different heights? Often, especially for length, I want to see what it looks like somebody who is 5’3”. Especially when they don’t come in petite.

  2. Scotti, you are smokin’, girl. Wow. Thanks for finding and highlighting these — I love the idea of the smoothing fabric in there — that’s genius! And the different lengths and necklines are awesome too. I’m in!
