Surprisingly Sexy: Paperbag-Waist Jeans & Kimonos

I kind of came across this combination by accident. I tried these jeans on and was surprised by how perfectly they fit. Usually, jeans are too short or too long or something is off. But these fit right out of the box: waist, length, comfort . . . they were all good. I wanted to show off the cool tie-waist, but when I added a crop top, I felt like I was trying (unsuccessfully) to look like a teenager. I needed a way to cover up without covering everything up.

Solution? A kimono! I wear kimonos over swimsuits all the time (such an easy cover-up that’s cute, comfy, and nursing-friendly), but I never really thought to pair them with jeans. I should have, because the result is super-easy and effortless. I’ve since worn this kimono with cropped black skinny jeans and over a black bodycon dress. Needless to say I think I’ll be wearing kimonos on repeat this summer, (I think they’ll look especially cute over denim cut-offs), so I rounded up a bunch of my favorites below . . . as well as some cool paperbag-waist jeans.

  1. I got the black prosperity denim paperbag jeans from Nordstrom and I highly recommend them. I’ve been pairing them with cropped tops or baby rib tees and a long cardigan.

I also have my eye on 7 for Mankind ones for when they go on sale.
