I am pretty basic when it comes to makeup (scratch that. I am extremely basic). I just don’t want to have to think about it…and honestly, I don’t get excessive pleasure from applying it, unlike fabulous Scotti. It simply serves a purpose for me…and that purpose, of course, is waking up The Tired Mom Face.
I try my best to always take the easy way out when it comes to shopping for and applying makeup, because…well, WHO HAS TIME FOR THAT??! (Scotti doesn’t count) Even with my lazy approach to cosmetics, I still do have to spend some time buying the products. Now, ladies, the way that I approach this process is very simple…well, no. It’s just lazy. I sit down, pull up my order history and re-order essentially the same stuff all over again. Every. Single. Time. I mean, yeh…OKAY. From time to time I get a little wild and throw in a couple of new things, whether it be a fresh blush or lip color (like I said…wild), but aside from those fun little additions, it’s always those same tried-and-true products — the ones I can trust to do their thang.
On that note, I’ve desperately needed a restock for probably three months now. Ya
My Favorite Makeup Products From Sephora
Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done
I don’t like the feeling of foundation, so when I first tried this stuff…I was immediately singing it’s praises. It is so light (don’t feel it at all, really), but yet it still evens out my skin tone. I wear the light shade.
Charlotte Tilbury Eyeshadow Palette
I’ve gotten the Urban Decay palette a couple of times now, but recently have become intrigued by this Charlotte Tilbury beaut. Now having tried it, I can understand the wild adoration for it! Plus — the range of colors is really perfect for any look I am going for. I also like that it’s a 1, 2, 3 step process, with the base color starting at the left and then you just add on the other two. Like I said, I can’t do hard make-up. This palette keeps it short and sweet for me, and I love that.
IT Cosmetics Volumizing Mascara
YES x 1000. Just like I don’t like my foundation to feel like a mask, I also loathe clumpy, heavy mascara. Well, this tube is pure magic for your eyelashes. I don’t have luscious, thick eyelashes (like my son, grr), but when I apply Superhero lash to them…IT’S LIKE I WAS BORN WITH THEM. See the
Anastasia Beverly Hills Perfect Brow Pencil
Going with the fastest-route-to-get-from-A-to-B approach, I can really appreciate a simple eyebrow pencil. I’ve never really mastered the epic brow, so I feel comfortable with a brow pencil that doesn’t require a lot of design work, if you know what I mean. Basically, no fine-point applicators for moi. I’ve been using this particular pencil for years now!
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil
The same thing applies for eyeliner…as in, I don’t do the whole liquid liner or other such witchcraft (starting to sound like a broken record, I know). I stick with a trusty eyeliner that looks good if it’s slightly smudged and applied by a newbie. The Urban Decay Glide-on is perfect for that, and it comes in whatever color you may desire.
KAJA Bouncy Blush
I usually do a liquid blush, but saw this cute little thang and had to try it. I wasn’t certain about the color since it’s a bit darker of a shade than I usually do…but once I got it on…WOW. I may have found a new favorite. BTW: it does come in two other colors (one a shade lighter and another a shade darker).
Urban Decay Vice Lipstick
BASICALLY THE ONLY LIP COLOR I WEAR. Seriously. It never fails me…and I can wear it with most anything. I have been wearing BACKTALK for years now and I probably won’t ever stop. Urban Decay’s matte lipsticks do not feel or taste like your grandmother’s lipstick and I’ve been pretty impressed with how long the color lasts. It comes in an array of colors, too!
PATRICK TA Major Glow On The Go
This is a new one for me, but having wanted to play around with a bit of understated body glitter, especially with the holidays coming up, I decided to add this one into my Easy Mom Make-up Line-up. I love it! You just spritz it on (I do neck and chest, sometimes arms) and the lipgloss looks lovely over my Urban Decay Backtalk. The spritz smells nice, too!
Sephora Shimmer and Shine Brush Set
I have been in desperate need of a new brush set, but holy heck…$$$. This Sephora Collection
Sephora Nested Organizer Duo
I have also been in need of a new make-up case. My old one is looking very sad. It was time! What I like about this nested set is that it’s big enough to hold all of my everyday products + it has a separate bag. I like to have certain things with certain things, so this is really perfect. Whenever I travel, I imagine that I’ll use the see-through bag for my brushes.
I’ve been getting my make-up from Sephora for a few years now. Mainly, because it makes it easy for me. They have an incredible range of brands and products, so whenever it’s time for one of those re-stocks, I know that I’ll be able to find the products I use and love. Also, their Beauty Insider Program is an added bonus! I love being able to pick out a birthday gift every year in my birthday month, getting special seasonal savings, tier celebration gifts ( just got one, actually), points on every dollar spent (which I can redeem for products). It’s a fun cherry on top!
…and that’s that! Those are all of the products I use on a regular basis.
Now, this is how I apply them…J/K. This is not a tutorial. Repeat. This is not a tutorial.
Aaaah. There we go. Putting on a bit of makeup always makes me feel brightened up, inside and out!
Take a little time for yourself today.
