Nordstrom’s post-holiday sale is here! Technically it’s called the Half-Yearly Sale, but the key thing is that this is one of their biggest sales of the year. The women’s sale section, for example, has almost fourteen thousand items.
How does one even begin to weed through 14,000 items? It’s simple: pick a time you know your children will either be napping peacefully or playing independently for several hours, snuggle up with your fully-charged laptop in a cozy chair next to a clean window overlooking a perfectly landscaped backyard lightly dusted with snow. Calmly sip your detox tea while you browse through…hang on, checking…194 pages of sale items.
Totally doable, right?
Or maybe…just start here. I put together a few outfits with my favorite pieces, and then my full edit of the sale is at the bottom of this post.
My Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale Edit
I threw together three outfits using my favorite pieces from the sale. I mixed them with items already in my closet, but even those items are either on sale themselves or have dead-ringers in the sale.
Outfit One: The Softest-Ever Vince Cashmere Sweater
Outfit Details
sweater: Vince cashmere boatneck sweater (size M)
jeans: AG Farrah Jeans (size 25 for reference) – this isn’t the exact wash I’m wearing, but it’s pretty darn close (and on sale).
boots: Jeffrey Campbell Coma Stretch Booties – I picked up the pair I’m wearing during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but these are almost exactly the same (more houndstooth…).
necklace: Argento Vivo choker necklace – just a fun (and affordable) little something to wear with t-shirts and sweaters.
scarf: Free People scarf – isn’t this SUCH a stunner??? Also in red or yellow.
Outfit Two: UGGs And a Cute Bag
Outfit Details
sweater: Vince cashmere asymmetrical sweater (size XS) – the side detail is really cool, and I appreciate that Vince didn’t skimp on the arms – they’re nice and long.
jeans: AG Farrah Jeans (size 25 for reference) – this isn’t the exact wash I’m wearing, but it’s pretty darn close (and on sale).
boots: UGG Kristin Classic Slim boots – I still love UGGs. If you are debating between chestnut and black….chestnut. Hands down. I bought the black a few years ago, and they show winter salt like crazy.
bag: Madewell The Eaton Bag – this adorable little bag is 40% off. I appreciated the inner drawstring, too.
Outfit Three: Seeing Red
Outfit Details
turtleneck: old – but Halogen has a ribbed layering turtleneck in the sale…OR..if you want something a little sexy, this All Saints turtleneck is everything (AND on sale).
top: Reformation – just sold out. Here’s a link to the Reformation pieces left in the sale (they’re going fast).
jeans: 3X1 Washed black jeans (yes, I cut the hem off)
boots: Jeffrey Campbell Coma Stretch Booties – I picked up the pair I’m wearing during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but these are almost exactly the same (more houndstooth…).
bag: Kate Spade Hazel Studded Crossbody Bag – I love that the studs are giant, oversized pearls. There’s something so quirky about this bag. I love it. (Also in black…hmmmmm…do I like the black better?)
scarf: Halogen Cashmere Scarf – this thing is GORGEOUS. Thick cashmere, and insanely soft.
phone case: Kate Spade phone case – Stripes forever, especially in all of my favorite colors: NEUTRAL
Top Picks: Sweaters
This is an especially great sale for stocking up on cashmere.
Top Picks: Tops
With a sale like this, a fun date-night splurge might have a better cost-per-wear than normal.
Top Picks: Jeans
These are basically all of my favorites.
Top Picks: Shoes and Boots
Everyday Booties
You’ll see a familiar theme: UGGs, taupe, and walkable heels.
Heels and Fancy Flats
I declare sparkle and snakeskin neutrals.
Sneakers
I am realllllly excited about these sneakers. Especially the aqua and black Nikes, and the navy Geox.
Everything Else
If nothing else, use this sale to get a fun pair of sunglasses – this is THE BEST time to buy them.
