Well, well, well. The 2020 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has finally arrived. We were getting nervous there for a sec — crossing our fingers that this sale wasn’t canceled (like the rest of our summer plans).

Instead of canceling the sale, Nordstrom leaned in — hard — on online shopping and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Instead of their usual catalog preview, Nordstrom has released the entire collection of Anniversary Sale products to be previewed, starting today. While you can’t shop — yet — you can add things on preview into your wishlist, and then buy when your access level comes up in August.

Quick note: Your access level is determined by your Nordstrom cardholder status (or lack thereof) and we have all of those details listed here. Bottom line? If you have a Nordstrom card, you shop earlier than everyone else. Your level of cardholder status (Icon, Ambassador, Influencer, etc.,) determines exactly how early. You can find out your level by logging into your Nordstrom credit card account — your status is listed there. (Or Hey: Nordstrom put a button to find out on this page.)

Onto the good stuff!!!! We’ve spent the last week in secret preview mode (I had to swear myself off of all social media so I didn’t spill the beans) and VOILA: I’ve pulled together a ton of seriously drool-worthy looks, made up of Nordstrom Anniversary Sale pieces. Paper dolls at its finest. You can check out all of our Nordstrom Looks here (and we’ll be adding more), but here are five to start that are getting me pretty darn excited (click the images to be taken to the look)….

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Preview: Outfit Idea #1

Pendleton coats are so impossibly well-made and chic — I can’t freaking wait to try this one. And I was over-the-moon to see La Ligne sweaters in this year’s sale. I’d pair these with some trusty rag & bone (my beloved Nina’s updated with a straight leg) and a bag that mixes my fav colors: black, white and taupe.

I’m such a sucker for shearling but, to be honest, I couldn’t decide between the shearling jacket (linked below) and this gorgeous faux-fur moto from Vince. Either way will work — love this mix of gorgeous fall tones.

This is the outfit I want to wear right now. The distressed denim, the easy slide and the boho-chic top: it’s the kind of outfit I would’ve packed for exploring some far-flung destination. Or, ya know…my local farmer’s market (with a mask, obvi).

I’ve been eyeing up this cute FRAME t-shirt for months, so I was thrilled to see it in the sale. Ever since Julieta raved about Levi’s ribcage jeans (here), I’ve been meaning to try them — now’s the time!

Um. All the yes. This easy top, gorgeous coat, and quirky, vintage-inspired bag are moving to the very top of my wishlist.

We’ll have more looks dropping soon, as well as some curated wishlists from the editors. But the question we keep getting asked…are we going to do our huge dressing room selfies articles this year?

Sort of.

Our coverage is going to look very different this year — stopping the spread of COVID and keeping everyone safe is top of mind — so The Mom Edit will NOT be going into dressing rooms and trying things on. However, we’re working through some strategies and ideas of how to cover the sale with our usual…fervor? Passion? Creativity?

In any case, we’d LOVE to hear from you. So much so, in fact, that we’re going to be hosting a FB live with our entire team this Tuesday, 1PM EST to talk Nordstrom sale strategies.

And HEY! Since the preview is live, if there’s ONE PIECE you really want to see us style up several ways, let us know!!!!! We always love to geek out with you guys on this stuff.

Lastly, if you haven’t yet signed up for our newsletter (dammit! do it!) we’re actually going to give our newsletter subscribers an early look at our mirror selfie posts before they go live on the blog. Soooooo….

Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Ok. Off to obsessively start adding stuff to my wishlist. Happy Friday!!!!

xo,

S

  1. Soooo excited for your coverage! It’s the hi-light of my summer. My screen says new products will be added to the preview daily, is that true?

  2. Hopefully you have some type of try on. I perused the sale this morning and was not impressed. Although that Pendleton coat made my very short list of items. I tend to see you girls try stuff on and that makes me rethink certain items.

    • YES – we will definitely be trying stuff on! We’re pulling together wishlists now, and trying to figure out a game plan. And after HOURS of inspecting every.darn.thing. in this sale…I am pretty excited about it. And if it makes you feel better, we hear every year that people are underwhelmed by the early looks and then – as you said – once tried on, it gets better.

  3. So interesting to see some of the brands NOT featured… like there’s not a lot of Free People, for example. I’m fascinated to see what’s coming since the world has changed so much. Lots of sports bras, leggings, obvi… but I’m intrigued!

  4. I echo Jess’ comments all the way around. It all felt a little “ho-hum” (with a few exceptions) – but understandably, there is a focus on “stay at home comfy vibes.” Would love to see some try-on sessions, however that can be done safely. <3

  5. I sure hope more things are coming like they say… it did feel a bit ho-hum now that I’ve run through everything. But perhaps that’s the way it is this year?

    • So funny – I literally just used it in a tiny capsule wardrobe I’m putting together. I’ll show it on our FB live on Tuesday and could even drop it into the Ooo…THIS section of the newsletter….does that work?

  6. The coat is at the very top of my wish list!!! I’ve only looked through the first couple of pages of the preview. It’s overwhelming! I was happy to see that the True Body bras are included. I may just use the sale to stock up on basics.

  7. Not going to lie, I already struggle with the anniversary sale because I live in Southern CA and it is geared towards cold weather gear. You add in COVID, I work from home, and 3 small children. I just can’t get excited. Are there things for someone like me?? Thank you for the scoop you have provided.

    • Ok – I just put together a draft capsule wardrobe of warm weather pieces. No idea yet when we’re publishing (maybe next week?)…but I can do a quick peek on our FB live on Tuesday…?

  8. I am here with Christa, California girl with warm weather. I would love to see more warm pieces. Cropped jeans, slides ect.
