Memorial Day weekend: the unofficial start of summer adventuring!! And since this crew is always up for a little adventure, we are frequent flyers (shoppers?) at Backcountry, one of our fav spots to pick up everything from cute hiking pants to sexy-practical swim, as well as all of the camping gear a mama could want (side note: camping cot vs air bed? This was a big topic of discussion the other day.)

Best Of Backcountry’s Memorial Day Sale: Hiking Boots, Activewear & Outdoor Adventure Gear

If you guys are really into hiking, you might also want to check out Em’s recent post on what to wear hiking (most of her Backcountry pieces are on sale), or Linzi’s in-depth post about finding the best hiking boots. Mine? Are still my Danners; I did a full review of Danner’s Mountain Light Hikers, here. Are they on sale? Yes…sort of.

In addition to a pretty epic sale section, Backcountry is offering 20% off one item (exclusions apply) if you sign up for their newsletter. They do this ‘20% off one thing’ a few times a year, and it’s a pretty solid way to snap up a bigger ticket item you’ve been eyeing. Example? Those Danner Mountain Light Hiking Boots I swear by are eligible for the 20% off (yay!), Patagonia’s Black Hole 70L Duffle, which is water-resistant, tough, and made from 100% recycled materials (perfect for road trips or sending kids off to camp), or even one of those heirloom-quality wool Pendleton blankets (I especially love the National Park series).

Lastly, speaking of blankets…Scotti did a post on her go-to pieces for campfire hangs, and everything she featured (including the epic Rumpl blankets that the entire team has since bought) are all on sale! Definitely worth checking out.

Em’s Top Backcountry Memorial Day Sale Picks

Backcountry is 1 of our fav spots to snag adventure gear from cute hiking boots to sexy-practical swimwear, plus all the camping gear a mama could want.
  1. Backcountry On the Go Cargo Pants: I have so much to say about these. Total sleeper hit — thin, stretchy, flattering, slim jogger silhouette, perfect for hiking, adventuring, streetwear, loungewear, DATE NIGHT. Trust me on this one, they’re SO versatile. Size up if you have an ample backside or strong thighs. Use code THEMOMEDIT to save an additional 15% off the sale price. (Tank is here in an icy blue, selling fast.)
  2. Cotopaxi Teca Windbreaker: Bright colors, super lightweight, packs into its own pocket. Tied with this one, which I also have (full review here). I sized up to a S in both to account for true layering if needed.
  3. Danner Mountain Light Boots: Perfect opportunity to put Backcountry’s 20% off one full-priced item to use, but they are also eligible with our ongoing 15% off code THEMOMEDIT. I tried to find a more affordable boot that I preferred to these, and I kept coming back to these. Size down half.

  1. Backcountry’s On the Go Cargo Pants – Apparently these are Backcountry’s best-selling pants. They run a little low-rise (compared to the high-rise denim that I’m used to these days) but they’re…amazing? I snapped up a pair after Em was so enamored, and she’s totally spot-on, per usual. I suspect I’m wearing a size bigger than Em (I’m wearing a small) and they’re super lightweight, comfy and flattering.
  2. The North Face’s Cragmont Fleece Jacket – This is the jacket I grabbed all summer and fall, racing out the door. It’s shockingly warm, and while I didn’t bring it to Vermont with me this Winter…I wish I had. It’s super-versatile, yet looks much more chic than the usual fleece jacket. It’s (finally) 30% off!

  2. Stoic Fireside Five O’Clock Chair: I LOVE this chair — I can sit comfortably in it with one of the kids as well. It’s the comfiest folding chair I’ve ever sat in. Perfect for our campfires or pretty much anywhere you need a chair!😂

Backcountry is 1 of our fav spots to snag adventure gear from cute hiking boots to sexy-practical swimwear, plus all the camping gear a mama could want.
  1. Marmot PreCip Eco Jacket: Oddly enough I do not own a light rain jacket, and this looks perfect for long walks on cooler Colorado days.
  2. Danner Hiking Boot: I don’t own a pair of hiking boots (also not shocking) and love the look and price of these.
