When I first tried Athleta’s Skyline pants, I wasn’t sure I’d like them.
I mean…the pleats, the high-waist, the belt all gave me pause. BUT…they’re amazing.
Athleta Skyline Pants: 4 Summer Outfit Ideas
In addition to the fit that’s surprisingly flattering on curvy bodies, the fabric is sooooo incredibly soft and lightweight. They’re made from Athleta’s Featherweight Stretch™ fabric (that I’m obsessed with by the way,) so they’re wrinkle-resistant, quick-drying and breathable.
And those pleats that I was hesitant about? Does wonders for disguising any extra jiggle you may have in the belly area. (Have I mentioned how insanely comfortable they are?) As far as sizing goes, they run true to size. My typical size 6 was perfect, but just a bit long. I exchanged for a 6 petite and the length was great. Right now, the tan and cognac brown are on sale — both of which are perfect colors for fall!
Here are four ways I’m wearing them…
1. Athleta Skyline Pants + A Graphic Tee
I stole borrowed this shirt from Shana last summer and have yet to give it back. It’s the perfect graphic tee that goes with EVERYTHING (I wore it over a LBD here and with leopard print leggings here…and of course, it looks great with denim), and the fit is spot-on. Tied up to the side, it’s the perfect way to show off the waistband of these pants without being too cropped (because I’m not really into showing my belly right now).

2. Athleta Skyline Pants + A Bodysuit (To Highlight The Waist)
These bodysuits from Abercrombie are hands-down my favorite right now. They’re soft and stretchy and the fabric kind of holds you in a bit. I love that you can wear a regular bra with this one, and I’m eyeing up the t-shirt version for the same reason (but the high-neck version is probably going to be my next purchase because I LOVE that cut). A bodysuit is a great option for these pants because of that cute tie-waist.

3. Athleta Skyline Pants + A Cropped Denim Jacket
You could always add an oversized denim jacket, but a cropped version helps to highlight the waist a bit better. This jacket from ABLE is one of my favorites — even more so because I love supporting a company that gives back as much as they do. (They’re committed to doing their part to help women escape poverty and their products are sustainable!) Not to mention their products are awesome — especially their denim jackets!

4. Athleta Skyline Pants + A Long Kimono (Or Cardigan)
This is an old kimono from Sole Society (sold out, more here) but I’m currently loving all of the options from Free People, especially this print or this solid one (and if money wasn’t a factor, this set is SO GORGEOUS OMG). I love throwing on a long flowy kimono like this over high-waisted pants (I paired it with paperpag-waist jeans here) although you could easily swap it out for a duster cardigan (on sale) to get the same look. (And if you know any pregnant mamas, this dress & kimono set is freaking adorable!!)

Thanks for this article! I love Athleta and have been looking at these pants. Question…do the pockets bulge out and create extra “weight”? In all your pictures where the pockets are showing, you have a hand(s) in the pockets. As I don’t typically walk around with my hands in my pockets, I’m wondering if the pockets add extra bulk? Thank you!
These pants are so cute and versatile! Love all of the ways you styled them.

You are too cute!! Every picture looks so good. I normally need an xs in Free People tops. Would you suggest sizing up since I plan to wear it knotted like you show?
