Listen: summer here in Northern Michigan is short, but oh-so-incredibly sweet.
There’s nothing like a long, cold winter to make you really soak up the warm season and make the most of every day. And once those temps do begin to thaw, there are two things I’m reaching to wear before anything else: a cute pair of sandals (goodbye boots!) and some good ol’ self-tanning lotion (because as I said, it was a loooong (pale) winter).
Birkenstock Sandals & Luxe Self-Tanning Lotion: My 2 Summer Must-Haves
There really isn’t anything that can compare to the bliss of packing my boots away in storage after the snow is finally gone for good. But slipping into sandals brings a very sudden realization that skin is about to be showing a whole lot more.
And this girl is pale.
I learned at a very young age that my skin doesn’t tan naturally very easily, so I’m not one to shy away from a self-tanning product for a pretty glow. I first became aware of Tan Luxe products from HSN.com a few months ago. I love that they carry Tan Luxe Big Butter. It’s a gradual tanning lotion, which I find so much easier (and less messy) to use than instant developing products.
Tan Luxe Big Butter | Birkenstock Salina Sandal
In addition to the Tan Luxe products (grab the tanning drops for a deeper tan, they’re so good), HSN is hosting all sorts of good deals this month, one including my Birkenstock Salina sandals.
First time customers can use code: HELLO10 for $10 off your first $20+ order, and FlexPay is offered at checkout so you can pay in easy installments!
Tan-Luxe Big Butter: My Secret To A West-Coast Tan
In addition to being pale, my skin is naturally very dry. So the fact that my skin can get a good layer of hydration while also developing an illuminating tan just feels amazing.
Tan-Luxe Big Butter is hydrating, lightweight and quick-drying, and develops a really lovely glow onto the skin. It’s that post-beach kind of illumination you walk away with after a long day in the sun.
I like to use the graduation lotion daily (doesn’t transfer, not even onto my white sheets), but my secret is actually combining it with Tan Luxe Body and Face tanning drops 2-3 times a week for a deeper looking tan. THIS is my secret to looking like I live on the West Coast and not, you know… in the arctic.

My Favorite Tan-Luxe Products
Birkenstocks: Always My Most-Worn Sandals
I feel like many of us are always coming back to Birkenstock each season. They’re kiiinda the absolute best. My normal go-to has been the Arizona Big Buckle ever since those were released a few years back, but this summer I grabbed a pair of the Salina sandals to switch things up.
The Birkenstock Salina Sandal has three thin, delicate straps, which I was drawn to. I especially love the middle strap that is positioned at a slant. It’s a gorgeous, feminine-feeling design element that has me reaching for these to wear with sundresses (along with everything else).
Birkenstock sandals are designed with support to keep your foot in a natural, healthy walking position. They’re immediately comfortable from the very first wear, and the cork molds to your foot the more you wear them, making them even better with time.
Birkenstocks Too Good To Pass Up
Birkenstocks and a good tan – what more do you need?

Thank you HSN for sponsoring this post! It’s so fun to look through your collections that change up each month, you always have stellar finds at the best prices and I love when I can find my favorite products for a bargain! And thank you to our readers – we appreciate your support more than I can express in words.
Let’s be friends on Instagram! Sharing life from my sleepy little beach town, daily style, makeup favorites, Gilmore Girl binge-athons, and endless cups of coffee – all with a good dose of adorable toddler content, too.
Could you add a note about the sizing? I did the online calculator at Birkenstock and measured as a 6-6.5…no way!
