All I can say is..wow. Our readers are THE BEST. This week’s challenge (by far) had the highest amount of #TMEStyleChallenge participation yet. You all styled up your non-skinny denim like champs..and I sense that plenty of you may be ready to put those old skinnies to rest..am I right? Too soon? Dare we do it?
Want in on a little secret? S thinks bootcut denim is going to reappear for REAL in the very near future. At least we got our styling practice in now. Scroll through for a ton of reader inspo and to see how Team TME took on this week’s sartorial stumper. To the overwhelming amount of readers who played along and have in past weeks – thank you SO much. You have no idea how fun this is for us to see.
This Week’s Winner Is…
For our random drawing, this week’s $50 gift card winner is: Lisa S! Check your IG DM’s, girl! XO
2 More Challenges This Month
WEEK 3 (10/15 – 10/22): Wear Your Pajamas OUT – Did we just make you gasp? Good. We challenge you to make an actual pajama piece work in a real-life outfit. Pajama-inspired works too but bonus points will only be awarded if you’ve actually slept in it.
WEEK 4 (10/22 – 10/29): ‘70s Vibe – Appropriate as the closest challenge to Halloween? We think yes. Whether you’re willing to give us full-blown Farrah Fawcett chic or you’ll simply snap a pic of your old platforms that made an appearance on date night, we’ll take it.
Here’s how to play (and get featured on the blog!): Snap a selfie (ours are casual mirror selfies), upload to Instagram and use the hashtag: #TMEStyleChallenge and be sure to tag @themomedit so we can see what you’ve come up with. *IF YOU’RE A PRIVATE ACCOUNT* but you’d like to be featured, DM us!! If you’re a little hesitant to put yourself out there, have a girlfriend/sister/your mom try it, too. The point is to work common pieces already in your closet into something a little ..unexpected. We’ll then publish them (with your permission) into one big article for all of October!
WOOHOO: Readers who participate will be eligible to win a $50 Gift Card for the remaining 3 weeks in October!
*To be eligible to win you must (please)
- Follow @themomedit
- Hashtag #TMEStyleChallenge and tag @themomedit (so we definitely see you!)
- Participate in the challenge for that particular week

Katie (@katieinbkln)

This is Katie’s 2nd week in a row participating (love that) and she’s delivered us not 1 but 2 looks each week. We love the easy slides + perfect half-tuck for your first take and you can never go wrong with some pointy-toed booties and a cool rolled hem. Can’t wait to see what you come up with next week!
Janice (@janicepersico)

top | jeans | shoes | belt bag
Did you shoot this just for us? Because that location/bridge/your backyard? is AMAZING. You look perfectly sweet in your high-neck blouse and those slides are so good with your non-skinny denim.
Deirdre (@leggings_and_rose)

Abby (@abbyfifermandell)

Hey, wild feminist! Abby, we love this fresh take on all-black with some amazing pattern mixing thrown in. Are those the Jeffrey Campbell plaid booties from the Nordstrom Sale we see?
Mary (@mymaria2)

Mary, we wish we looked this gorg just walking out the door. Your sneaks work so well with both denim looks. Thanks for sharing!
Kim (@ukcavill)

Andrea (@adavis13)

Helen (@valleyoftheshoes)
Helen looks crazy chic here. The feminine flats + lace top paired with a slightly relaxed fit jean is giving us all the heart eyes.
Angela (@stylingseed)
Those shoes were begging to peek out a little more. Good choice pairing with your side slit denim, Angela!
Tracy (@chardonnaynshopping)
Hey Tracy! We’re in love with these looks you shared. Now we need some western-inspired accessories too…
Jessie (@mountaineer_chick)
Those boot-cuts look SO good with your heels, Jessie. We love how you mixed your patterns + textures here, too. Thanks for sharing!
Patty (@pattykishcakes)
Yaaass proportion play! Those flares were made to be paired with some cool layers.
Krista (@thequirkyshopper)
A gray fuzzy-pocketed cardi we never knew we needed? Yes please. We also love a good flares + vans combo. You look great, Krista.
Alastar (@marbleheadstaginganddesign)
This monochromatic look is perfect for fall – love.
Nicole (@nicolebutler)
jeans | top | sweater blazer | earrings
Nicole, your mini photoshoot + star graphic made our day. You look AMAZING, chick. Love how you paired a higher-shaft bootie with your cropped denim.
(@lmcdoc1)
Well if this isn’t a Shana approved outfit, we’re not sure what is. White booties + stripes foreva.
Carol (@caroljunebug)
Carol, wow. You went above and beyond this week! Thank you for sharing so many great looks with us – you’re definitely helping us think outside-of-the-box and you’ve got your layers + proportional play DOWN.
Erica & Nse (@attaccafashion)
Ok, this is amazing. Erica and Nse we LOVE your takes on non-skinny denim. Please play along every week (especially Nse, haha).
Amy (@amyhartboyle)
Well, if these aren’t the coolest non-skinny jeans EVER. We can tell you had a lot of fun creating this awesome outfit, Amy. Thanks for sharing!!
Elizabeth (@elizabethrafter)
Elizabeth, you’re rocking it yet again. So easy and cool. You’re slowing (but surely) convincing us that Docs should be our boot of choice.
Lisa (@lisanotartomaso)
Oooh, Lisa! We love how those snake print booties work with your wide-legs. Bravo.
Katie (@kkgrooms)
Katie, these were AWESOME. Thank you for showing us not one but two looks this week. Good idea layering a trusty turtleneck under that sleeveless vest. The lines look so good with those straight legs.
Lisa (@sullivan4407)
Any of this look familiar? That Topshop sweater (left) and a great black lace cami will get you far. We love how you styled your non-skinnies for pick up and date night, Lisa!
(@megorfan)
Those side slit booties look great with that hemline! Perfect outfit for fall.
Jaime (@jaime_elee)
There’s something about a non-skinny jean that makes your go-to flannel and booties look so chic. Great outfit, Jaime!
Marie (@mariecoolman)
Is that a BLANKNYC jacket we see, Marie? You look put-together! This should be everyone’s fall uniform.
Zoe (@kzsly)
Clogs and flares! This would be totally Linzi approved. You look adorable, Zoe.
Abby (@abztractness)
Sneaks and flares just work. You look great, Abby! Thanks for sharing.
Holly (@hollycaustin)
Holly knows you can never go wrong with a classic white tee + blazer. Love the subtle rip in those jeans, too!

Scotti, you look SO. FREAKING. GOOD. This girl just had a baby. We can’t. Scotti wanted to note that her jeans run very small, if interested.
Ready for PJ dressing?

I love all of these! Where is the asymmetrical camo jacket from that leggings_and_rose is wearing?
This was a fun one! And Doc Martens, especially oxblood ones, will forever be my boot of choice! See, I’m not COMPLETELY opposed to comfy shoes! ?
It’s from Anthropologie. ? It’s super comfy! I love it’s so versatile!
