I have a (major) thing for year-round color, but when summer hits — oh, mama, I’m going all in. This Semi-Annual Sale timing is so perfect because I’m really in the mood to liven up my athletic and loungewear basics (that aren’t really basic at all, which is the best part) for this hot, hot PA weather. Athleta’s styles are just sporty enough to wear to intense HIIT workouts and (my current exercise fave) long walks, then cute and stylish enough to take me to a coffee date or even dinner out (check out the dresses). Pretty transitional pieces are such a genius work of art. *sighs in admiration* Love the XXS to 3X size range too.

1. Newport 2.5″ Board Short
Oooo, ya. These board shorts are summertime-lounge AND watersports perfection. (You read that right.) These babies are the shortest shorts I picked, and I love them for that factor. Sometimes you just want to show (2 inches) more leg, right? My guess is yes, especially if you’re surfing, swimming, paddleboarding, etc. And yep, these shorts were made for that. *the crowd goes wild.* They’re breathable, wrinkle- and abrasion-resistant, quick-drying, and — best of all — gorgeously sustainable (recycled polyester). Slipping these on for a full day outside grants a whole new meaning to fun in the sun.
2. Playa Linen Tie Top
OK, Athleta, OK!!! You killed it with this one. Enter: the prettiest (and fanciest) lounge top you ever did see. And…it’s linen!!! I’m in love. Athleta’s take on linen is subtly textured + 100% washable and both sound crazy-dreamy in regards to this waist-tie top. It’s perfect for warm-weather travels and a vacay of any kind (totally can be worn on the beach over a swimsuit for a breezy cover-up top). I want this in the lovely bright Passionfruit Coral, but I so love all three colors.
3. Playa Linen Wide Crop Pant
And to go with the delicious linen top…THESE. Ohhh, yes. Flowy linen crop pants with the coolest pleats and zip pockets!! I want five. I appreciate that one model shows the pants with sneaks (definitely one of the ways I’d wear), and the other shows them with sandals for a less-casual look. Talk about versatility! They’d pair superbly over a swimsuit (with a bikini top) for the day, then with the matching Playa Linen Top or a pretty little tank for dinner on the town. Such a good piece.
4. Playa Linen Wrap Dress
Loving the linen Passionfruit gorgeousness but more of a dress person in the summer? I didn’t forget about you, flowy breeze lovers. This wrap dress is good. The black and white colors are total faves, but I, of course, would go straight for this bright showstopper. I’m imagining wearing this pretty number to a farmers market with a big straw basket in one arm (ideally filled with strawberries, freshly baked bread and greens of some kind) and an iced coffee in the other. *drools* I can see it so clearly and I’m obsessed.
5. Conscious Cut Out Crop
Now, Athleta totally shines in the department of sports bras (/tops). They KNOW how to do this. I love this bright-peach color (get used to it because more peach is coming your way!) with the front wrap and back cutout because it seriously livens up my black or gray workout bottoms. (Boring, no more!) This crop is best for light-impact workouts like barre, yoga and pilates, and is apparently “buttery soft.” Delicious. I’d wear this any time of day — yoga and beyond.
6. Sundown Alliance Hoodie
The look of this hoodie makes me want to wrap myself in it and have a warm cup of coffee on a chillier summer (or even early fall with this pretty peachy orange) morning. It looks so breathable, cozy and just-warm-enough. I’d also throw it in my car for road trips and beach nights for when layering is a must but heavy layers aren’t (yet).
7. Cabo Linen 4″ Short
Now, we know you guys are totally head over heels for Athleta’s Cabo Linen Joggers (us too, we can’t get enough) — so I present to you… the shorts version!!! (Which is already graciously marked down, btw.) These shorts have that same light-and-airy feel as the joggers but (obviously) for when it’s a little too hot for full leg coverage. I am so here for the laid-back vibe of these with a little graphic tee or comfy hoodie.
8. Farallon Short
Similar but different! These are also 4 inches long like the Cabo Linen Shorts but have more of a loungy feel. They’re made from a “knoven” (it’s a word) fabric, which has the feel of a yummy, stretchy knit and the look of a woven twill. Smart. Organic cotton and totally WFH-friendly.
9. Supermoon Sweatshirt
Yesssss, back interest!! I adore pieces that look like basics but have something more. This crewneck sweatshirt is classic in the front, then SO cool with an open, drapey back. Made from Athleta’s softest fabric (so, like, just imagine that) and sustainable TENCEL Modal for breathable all-around stretch. It’s a yes from me.
10. Salutation Stash 14.5″ Skort
Ooooo, she’s fun!! Skorts are truly the bomb. Shorts inside (be gone, chafing!) and a cute little skirt outside — it’s functionally adorable. Again, it’s that “buttery soft” fabric with side pockets and the perfect amount of stretch (so you can actually work out in it, not just look stylish). This green is so fresh, I can’t get enough of it.
11. Renew Seamless Racerback Tank
Hi to all my tank ladies! This one is for you. I love the seamless style (again, bye, chafing) and narrow racerback. It’s such a trendy silhouette that I think is SO very flattering. It also just looks a teeny bit more special than your average scoop-neck tank. Also, Athleta’s ionic+ technology has naturally occurring antimicrobial silver ions knit into the fabric that eliminates odor before it starts. Amazing?! Definitely workout-friendly and really cute.
12. Intention Tee
How about this? This tee is so cool in such an effortless way. The cutout shoulders allude to that same idea of “basic but elevated,” which is exactly what pulls me in every single time. I’d wear this piece to yoga or honestly even dressed up (slightly) with a pair of cool jeans. It’s quick-drying, sweat-wicking, breathable and sustainable (hello again, TENCEL). What a perfect combo.
