Leave it to Everlane to create four beautiful summer basics that now I can’t imagine my summer closet without. We’re talking magical comfy knit pants in a cool new shape, buttery-soft sandals, an adorable black cotton bubble top, and the most convenient little leather sling bag, ever.
These four great pieces can take you lots of places this summer. They recently took me to one of my favorite spots in the Columbia River Gorge. This entire outfit is making me very happy right now with a new silhouette and easy fabrics, and I’ll be wearing this on repeat for sure.
jersey barrel pant | crossover flat sandals | bubble top | Italian leather sling bag
This cute top is a woven organic cotton with the perfect capped sleeves and these pants are exactly what I want to wear right now…not sweatpants or joggers, but just as comfy as those. Here are the four exciting pieces I can’t get enough of for summer:
1. The Retro Jersey Barrel Pant
These are the pants I knew I needed…but didn’t know I needed. This cool barrel shape is subtle, but something new and different. The pants have a nice high waist and a comfy stretchy waistband, but are made of some kind of magic fabric that doesn’t read too casual. I just peeked at the product details again…and apparently, it’s knit organic cotton! Noted! These pants are just really well-made, not too thin, and very flattering. I’m totally in love.
And of course, we can’t forget to mention pockets….and that cute tiny little E detail that just makes them feel even more thoughtfully made. THE easy pants of the summer, my friends. And they come in a pretty natural/ivory color, too. Yep. I’ll be getting those.
Fit notes: Wearing a small. The fit is generous in the legs and booty, but TTS in the waist. I’m 5’4″ for length reference. In the photo above where I’m standing, I have them cuffed once, for an ankle length.
2. The Crossover Sandals
Oh hiii, super soft leather sandals. One of my favorite things about these, besides the soft upper, is that while they read as a flat sandal, they actually have some support in the sole. I don’t know about you, but as much as I love those really thin flat sandals, my feet do not. These have the tiniest wedge that provides great support and cushion without being a platform or without being heavy.
These lovely crossover sandals come in this nice golden brown, a pretty taupe, ivory and black. They fit true-to-size and need no break-in period thanks to the soft leather. What a find!
3. The Bubble Top
OK, so as someone in their 40s who tends to carry weight in my midsection, I’m not typically a crop top gal. But…this cute bubble top was too adorable not to try. And I’m also working on caring less about that stuff and just wearing the top..because I love it!
The bubble top is perfect for the high-waisted shorts and pants I have (and my high-waisted jeans, too). As a shorter torso’d gal, I prefer tops that aren’t too long or don’t overwhelm my frame, especially this time of year. That’s why you see me knot so many of my tees. This top achieves that without trying. It also has the perfect little cap sleeve length for summer.
And speaking of shorts…while I didn’t include them in my four must-haves (only because I was so enamored with the pants) these Easy Shorts are super cute. I have trouble getting shorts (besides jean shorts) to fit well with my booty and thighs, but these shorts fit great. I’m wearing a size 6 here. They’re true to size, but perhaps size up if you’re between. And there’s even an adorable matching top that I somehow missed!
4. The Italian Leather Sling
And the cutest useful tiny bag award goes to? The Italian Leather Sling. Dude. It’s not only adorable and easier to wear than the fanny pack/belt bag I typically love, but it also fits just what I need for times I don’t want a giant purse…phone, cards, mask, lip gloss. It also makes me feel just a bit comfier in my crop top. It’s a little buddy of a bag, what can I say? I’ll definitely be taking it on all trips from now on!
Another honorable mention goes to Everlane’s cute new clog sandals. They are seriously comfy, especially if you are a clog gal like me and have tried a ton that take a lot of breaking-in. These fit more like a flatform and less like a heeled clog. They come in black and white, too, and are going fast!

this look is so summery, thanks for sharing this info with me
Laura, you are ROCKING that crop top! As a fellow gal in her mid-forties who carries weight in her midsection (particularly after 4 children), you have inspired me to be brave and try one this summer.
Aw thanks, Jade! And yay!! xo
I have thought so many times of entering the blogging world as I love reading them. I think I finally have the courage to give it a try. Thank you so much for all of the ideas!
