I made a new friend this week, in the process of doing a tiny mitzvah for a neighbor. There is something just wonderfully knowing, accepting, forgiving, and loving about women who have lived for more than 7 decades. I find them inspiring, and I count my blessings that they seem to show up when I most need to be reminded to be strong, to be true, and to just do the best I can in any moment. And to laugh.
It’s almost like angels get sent when I need them most — beautiful, wise angels. I hope they are showing up for all of you too as you need them. If they don’t seem to be, just offer a small act of kindness somewhere in your world…I’m not certain about this, but the pattern does seem to be that it always comes back ten-fold, often when you least expect it and didn’t even know you needed it most.
Weekly Favorite Finds In Home Decor: Beds, Lighting & Cool Organization
Weekly Favorite Finds below, all clean and fresh. And all the sales too — my favorite of which this week is Serena & Lily Beds. They have beautiful beds, and beautiful beds are more beautiful when they are on big sale. It is a tough favorite sale contest this week though, because I also love Rejuvenation, for lighting especially, and this is the final weekend of that big sale.
1/ Pebble Rug | Made of cotton and wool, by a great company with a strong rep for rugs, and brought to you, relatively affordably, by Target. Or at least, at less-expense than many similar such rugs. Available in 3 colorways and multiple sizes. Clean, fresh area rug; it’s the texture that makes it cozy. Zoom in. My love of pebble rugs runs deep.
2/ Oversized Woven Basket | This guy has some serious size to him and is a quiet, but a beautiful way to add some interest to a wall that needs a little or big something. Handmade. Looks great above a headboard, as well as above a console or credenza, or even in a turning stair hall with some ceiling height. 20% off with code REFRESH.
3/ Basket Leather Handles | Available in 3 sizes, at reasonable prices for how large the baskets are. Great catch-all storage for all the things.
4/ Basket Wood Handles | Ethically hand-crafted of sustainable materials, and could it be any more beautiful? Great under a table with throw blankets in it, or by a console with beach towels rolled, next to a chair with a few magazines, or in an entry with something seasonal in it.
5/ Nesting Tables | Can we just take a minute to fully appreciate those round, antique brass-finished iron feet?
6/ Matte Black Ceramic | I have found that I am happier when my coffee mug doesn’t have a handle, and when it’s big enough. And I’ve fallen in love with matte black mugs over the past few years. These come in several sizes and shapes, the one pictured is the Latte size. I don’t do milk, just black coffee, but this is still my favorite size of the moment, it warms my hands and therefore my heart. And then my mind catches up a few minutes later.
7/ Knife Sharpener | And the intention on top of the intention is to actually sharpen my new knives. My mother once took a cooking class devoted to that art. My ex-husband was excellent at it. I have just never been able to get the right hang of it by hand. So Imma gonna try this thing. I’ll let you know how it goes.
8/ White Ceramic Vase | Does anyone else just need to see green all year-round? These, in all the sizes, with the dried eucalyptus next to them are a great cold weather, indoor way to bring a little green life to your home to carry us through until we can cut actual live greens again in the spring.
9/ Dried Greens | Maybe just because it’s both fun and organized, is Eucalyptus my favorite. And even dry, it smells great. Not too strong, just enough.
10/ Rolling Beverage Cart | This guy remains a team favorite. He makes serving easier for big parties especially when they overflow to the patio.
11/ Fire Pit | This is way to big for my tiny outdoor space, but it’s a gorgeous shape, so someone somewhere needs this!
12/ Blue Credenza | One of my all-time favorites, it’s a great shape, has great storage and comes in so many fun and beautiful finishes. This is my current favorite.
