Is it just me, or does it feel like summer is flying by? This past week has been a bit of a roller coaster for me, and I’m starting to experience the effects of COVID-19 firsthand. Many of my friends’ places of employment have shut down again as staff become exposed, and unfortunately, people who are very near and dear to me have recently tested positive for the virus. My PSA for this week is to please, please wear a mask. I recently ordered this mask set from Nordstrom and there are plenty of fun patterns out there.
In addition to practicing social distancing, I am, as always, looking for online sales. This week, Madewell is offering 30% off sale items with the code GIANT, J.Crew is offering up to 60% off sale items with the code SUMMER and I am loving this cashmere crew neck — it ends up being just $35 with the discount! Athleta is having a huge semi-annual sale right now, too! I’ve had my eye on these workout leggings and will definitely be purchasing ASAP. Hey hey, Friday. Whew, here we are again already! The weeks are oddly long and short right now, right? Kinda nuts. Exciting news in our life this week is that my hubs, Pinky (long story, haha) started a new biz! You guys, it’s hot. I know it’s not that interesting to talk about the weather, but when it comes to sales shopping today, pieces for super-hot weather are pretty much all I can search for. Dresses that barely touch my body (my fav thing to wear when it’s sweltering), cute summer sandals, and a few other pieces I’ve been thinking about non-stop. Boden is running a MAJOR sale with great swimwear and fun hot-weather dresses. Not on sale, but SO super cute…I’m ordering these amazing Boden print masks. Excited to wear them with solid color dresses, as well as my white tee / black comfy pants uniform. Also not on sale (but so cool)…these hexagon earrings from Black-owned business Marcia Vidal. Well hey, friends! Hope everyone had a great week. Chris and I are celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary today with BBQ (shout out to fave local haunt, Breakwater Barbeque – everything is tasty but the Texas Sheet Cake is a big ol’ sleeper hit) and movie night with the kiddo. It’s admittedly a little different from how we envisioned spending this weekend earlier in the year, but I’ve completely bought into the idea that any/all celebrations affected by COVID get a big fat do-over at some point down the road. If only we knew when that would be. (*cough* WEAR A FREAKING MASK *cough*)
I took advantage of a little retail therapy last week and scooped up a handful of picks from J.Crew’s crazy sale. It’s still going strong — get additional discounts with code SUMMER — and now I’m eyeing this (sustainable!!) house dress for $59 (you’re shocked, I know…) and this linen version of my fave white denim shift dress (how did I miss this!?). It’s available in 4 colors and such a steal at $49. Other top picks: my favorite Ginsel booties (I have the snake print) are under $50 in classic black; the shape and front notch are so flattering (TTS). This L’Agence silk cami is a whopping 70% off and in such a pretty color. And Athleta DENIM!? The reviews say these are so much better than the pictures suggest, and for $38, they’re worth a try. Julieta’s Sale Picks
We’re going camping this weekend with my six- and three-year-old. That sounds a little easier than the last time we took them at six-months and four, right? RIGHT? Pray for us.
I started checking the sales and found that one of my favorite brands, BCBGMAXAZRIA is on mega sale. I’ve had a silk dress from them for 10 years and it’s still in my closet. I don’t let a year go by without wearing it. They make timeless, beautiful summer pieces.
Scotti Sale Picks
Greenlea is turning 6 this month, and she has changed her mind about the theme of her birthday party about 20 times. This week. OK, maybe not that much, but let’s just go with a lot. Her most recent ideas were a heart-themed party, a Scoob!-themed party (Scooby Doo) and a vampire-themed party…but NOT Vampirina. They flow together so well, right? At least I didn’t order any decorations yet! She’s still young enough that she really only celebrates with family, so I’m glad we don’t have to break her heart by not being able to invite any of her friends due to the pandemic. And meanwhile, I’m Googling “Vampire Birthday Party Ideas” and seeing a whole lot of adult options…and Pinterest is always helpful-but-not in the fact that they have so many cool ideas that I could never live up to on my best day as a mom. So this weekend I’ll be ordering some Halloween decorations maybe? Idk…I’m all ears if you guys have ideas.
Anyway, sales…J. Crew is still having some AMAZING prices (including these pjs I just bought myself) and ABLE is having a really good sale (I’m eyeing up this black denim jacket and I can vouch for the fabulousness of these shoes). I love supporting a company like ABLE who gives back. Oh and this dress I just posted about is now on sale…get it! It’s amazing! Happy weekend, everyone!

Comment for Scotti: My baby is turning 6 on August 2nd, I completely get the birthday mind games of an almost 6 year old! Haha. Since my “independent woman” is the 3rd child, I have come to the conclusion that what MOM SAYS GOES for b-day parties. She for sure can have an opinion, but I have found with each kids, I can convince them to do it my way, and pretty easily 🙂 I do like the vampire theme though!
How do you get J Crew cashmere at a sale price? Every time I try, it’s excluded from the sale, including with the current code.
