Something fresh, something easy. Those are things I can get on board with during this spring-unlike-any-other. Give me some fresh spring vibes right now! It definitely helps. I’ve been eyeing white sandals for a while now and even had a really inexpensive pair that I wound up wearing quite a bit last summer. (They sadly bit the dust…um, why are cheap sandals stinky after only a few wears?)
SO, this year I decided it was time for an upgrade and that I was really gonna commit to some quality white sandals. YES. Thank you Birkenstock — one of my favorite sandals ever — for giving yourself a makeover and adding chic (yes, I said chic in a Birkenstock post) bigger buckles on your beloved Arizona style. I’m in love. It’s just enough of a change to the classic sandal to feel like a whole new shoe. I think the fresh white also contributes to that modern vibe…and I’m also adoring the blush pink pair Shana tried on recently.
Styling White Birkenstocks: 4 Outfit Ideas For Now & Later
Let’s be honest…I’m mostly wearing slippers these days. But as the weather gets better, I want my footwear to reflect that. A cool pair of Birks is doing the trick. I’m also finding the Birks to be a nice break for my back…slippers apparently weren’t meant to be worn 24/7, Hahaha!
Styling white sandals or shoes, in general, can be kinda tricky. They draw a lot of attention to themselves being so bright and all, so a bit of matching OR contrast seems to help them become a more seamless part of an outfit and to read fresh instead of sterile. I like my white Birks with graphic prints, all black, and white jeans best.
White Birkenstocks Outfit Idea 1: With Stripes & Blue Jeans
Navy & white stripes just say French-Girl Spring, and a top like this is a great complement to the white of the sandals. Keep it semi-monochromatic with a cool pair of blue jeans.
White Birkenstocks Outfit Idea 2: With Black Jeans
Graphic black and white is probably my favorite combo for any outfit, but it works well in this case, too. Find a black tee that you love the fit of (for me that means a shorter sleeve length…longer looks frumpy on me). I busted out my old favorite black jeans for this and rediscovered how incredibly soft they are. They’re really the only jeans I can wear all day long right now because they’re that comfy.
White Birkenstocks Outfit Idea 3: With White Jeans
Wearing shoes that are the same or similar color to your pants always looks intentional. Balancing that look out with a contrasting top keeps it a bit more casual and a bit less bold… less “HI I AM WEARING ALL WHITE”…. I love the contrast of a solid black tee, the interest of a graphic tee, or the unexpected combo of an earth tone. This last one is especially fresh and on trend.
White Birkenstocks Outfit Idea 4: With Jumpsuits
A solid color jumpsuit is a great option when wearing a bit of a bold/bright shoe. Both of these are so comfy. The short coveralls I love as a beach coverup for days that might skew a bit chillier. The jumpsuit on the right is in a jersey knit and so soft and comfy, even to wear at home right now. I totally recommend it. You could swap out any solid colored jumpsuit here and I think it would work well with the bright white Birkenstocks.
Speaking of jumpsuits, I also just got this comfy piece from Philomena + Ruth. It’s the softest thing I’ve put on my body. They have the blue and green left in some sizes. It’s one of those wear-days-in-a-row kinda things.
