An Easy Outfit Formula for White Jeans

Oh, white jeans. I’ve loved you on others for years but my picky picky self and I struggle to style you in a way that’s flattering and interesting. You are a trickster of a pant color and you draw too much attention to yourself. You’re SO bright! Well, I’ve finally found something to compete with you that completes you well, in my opinion.

The Formula: Bright Top + White Jeans + Neutral Shoe

I’m quite sure I’m pickier than most when it comes to what to wear with white jeans…I mean, they’re white. Like EVERY color pretty much goes with them, right? Well, apparently not to my brain. I am loving how the brightness of these tops matches the intensity that is white denim. I’m finally happy. Haha.

I’ve honestly slugged through so many different combos for my white jeans and this is what I’m loving best right now. I love that the bright top balances well with the bright white jeans and the neutral shoe makes legs look longer since it blends in and doesn’t cut off your legs at the ankle.

The straight cut of these white jeans also helps them flatter more than skinnies. I’m finding that was part of my previous issue, too. Whew. Many of the jeans I tried just. showed. every. bump. These balance out the top of my legs and the calves a bit more = more flattering.

I like a little distressing on my white jeans, too, so they’re not TOO crisp and preppy, but that’s just me. I’m so excited to have found a little formula that works for me and I think it’s a fun combo for spring. It would be easy to translate into summer with a bright tank or tee and neutral sandals.

Red TeeWe The Free Cleo Tee – Super cute in bright colors. So soft and love the distressing paired with the white jeans here especially. Runs a little big but cute with a pretty bra peeking out. Wearing Medium.

Jean JacketMadison Kane Denim Jacket – This has become my favorite jacket right now. I wear it with just about every outfit, even my workout wear to add a little more street vibe. It’s perfectly oversized but not too much. Wearing a Small.

Taupe Boots (similar) – Naturalizer Westing Bootie – These have been SO versatile and my go-to shoe for wearing with a cropped straight leg jean.

White JeansGap High Rise Slim Straight – I never found the miracle white skinny jean so I think I’ll just stick with the more-flattering straight leg for my white denim. Love the bit of distressing here, too. Fit about a half size small so possibly size up since they’re white. Wearing size 27.

Blue SweatshirtH&M Oversized Sweatshirt

Cheetah Boots  – Matisse Nelson Bootie – My spring favs. The heel height is just so perfect but they’re still fun and dressy.

Pink Clutch (similar) Michael Kors Pink Clutch – on major markdown!

  1. That blue sweatshirt again – love it! I mentioned on your other post, the men’s version (here – is also super cozy. It doesn’t come in that amazing blue but it is $14.99 and comes in a bunch of other fun colors.

Thanks for the white jean tips. I need a new pair and I prefer a little more slouch (or at least a straight leg) in a white jean – the skinnies just show EVERYTHING and I prefer a little more camouflage for the gams. I’m leaning towards JCrew’s slim broken in boyfriend (I have this style in other colors and love it).

  2. I recently bought those Gap jeans for myself and agree that the straighter leg tends to be more flattering than a skinny when it comes to white jeans (avoiding white/light denim that is too thin or stretchy helps too). I also liked the higher but not ultra high rise, the bit of distressing, and the fact that they aren’t a super bright white (I find that white knit tops often seem slightly off white, perhaps because they are sheer so a bit of skin tone comes through, so I find my other white jeans look too white next to them.) Did you cut your jeans shorter? I was thinking of doing the same, as I didn’t buy them in my usual petite and they feel just a smidge long…plus I think a rough edge hem will work with the distressing.
