During the summer I take a break from pretty much anything healthy. So while Shana is jogging in her cute pink bikini on the beach, I am parked in my lounge chair, sporting my mom swimsuit (that has plenty of butt coverage), waving down the ice cream man. My summer of unhealthiness also includes plenty of hoagies at the shore, funnel cakes on the boardwalk, saying yes to ALL local deliciousness of places we visit, and did I mention ice cream? Lots and lots of lots of ice cream?

I know, I know…this whole “thing that I do” can be seen as pretty awful  —I should be practicing healthy habits year-round, treats in moderation, modeling healthy behavior for my children, blah blah blah…but this “system” has worked for me for years. And you guys know by now how much I like systems and routines that work. So, September means back to a healthier lifestyle, and as can be expected it is BRUTAL, but oh-those-summer-months….they really are quite glorious!

One thing I have discovered is that if I have cute sneaks, I will wear them…and if I wear them, I will walk fast…and if I’m walking fast and increasing my heart rate, I tend to make healthier choices throughout the day, so…sneakers it is as much as possible (with my fav Superfeet of course popped in for extra comfort).

Fall 2019 is a pretty great time to be looking for new sneaks–so many fun trends to try with pattern-mixing, pops of color, and some pretty amazing basics too. For styling ideas, Laura shows us how to rock jeans, tees, and sneakers here; Shana discusses the white sneak trend here, and she combines sneaks with dresses here. We do love our sneakers here at TME. Of course, all this just makes this whole deciding-on-which-pair-thing that much harder ..sorry!

  1. Once again, Linzi, you’ve knocked it out of the park! I think I got my first pair of Tretorns in 1990 and I’ve been a fan ever since. I really love the updated styles and prints you’ve included here! And I really, truly do swear by the Adidas Boosts. They are awesome work/workout sneakers, but i think they look cool enough that I wear them with everything. I’ve thrown mine in the washing machine a number of times, too, which is nice when they cost as much as they do (I don’t know if that affects the “boost” or not, though, but I still think my year old pair are super comfortable). Also, if you have an Adidas Outlet store near you, check there. Three of the four pairs I’ve had now have come from an Outlet and have cost less than $100! Another great round up! Thank you!!!

  2. So many cute sneaks, how do I choose!?! I think I’ve got to have those tretons! Thank you for this round up and how organized and thorough it is!

I also wanted to touch on your earlier comments around getting back on the wagon after summer indulgence. I often feel the same way, but lately I’m loving the message and info in the eat with confidence podcast about intuitive eating, body positivity, and health at every size. So I just wanted to leave a plug for that here if any readers are feeling frustrated with their relationship with food, exercise, or their bodies… Check it out!

  3. Great post! So, help me here….socks? Do you just go without? Or do you have magical no show ones you love?

As an aside, have you ever noticed people on workout videos are never wearing socks? I get it is a look, but don’t the feet get sweaty or slip around? More socks, I say!

    • Ugh! Socks. I don’t have a good answer. In the past I’ve worn inexpensive, but decent ones, from Uniqlo. They’ve changed the design, though, so I don’t know if the new ones are as good. Right now, unless I’m REALLY exercising, I usually throw on a pair similar to the ones Elisabeth recommends, if I want the no-sock look, but they slip around and bunch sometimes and aren’t perfect. I’ve heard really good things about Bombas no -show socks as well as these smartwools and vans no show socks. It’s definitely on my “list” to do a full trial and review of a ton of different socks, but it’s been on my “list” for a while now and nothing has happened,(Ha!) so can’t guarantee anything any time soon. Hopefully others will chime in with their favs.

    • So funny. I usually do bright sneaks as well, but this fall I’ve been really feeling those black Nikes. Alexis has a pair of sneaks very similar to the black Vejas above, and I’m kind of obsessed with those too. Something in the air!

  4. thanks for this! I was reminded today that my new balances (that one of you all recommended in the spring 🙁 ) very bizarrely make my feet go numb! I can’t have that as we go into colder weather! Ordered about 5 pair!
