All the things right now! I hope in the midst of all the things you’re getting a moment to reflect on the year a bit. If you need some inspiration on reflecting, focusing on intention or adding adventure to your next year, I highly recommend my friend Miranda’s podcast, Live Free Creative. Listen as you’re wrapping gifts, cooking, putting away holiday decorations or traveling to grandma’s house. It’s my jam right now. She’s so lovely and has some great ideas, too.

Here is what I’ve been up to, as usual. Even this time of year I’m still trying on all the clothes. I do it for you guys. There may be a screw loose…or two. And this month it almost killed me. Needless to say though, there’s some cute stuff out there on sale, and here is a fraction of it.

Sale notes: Abercrombie – 40-60% off the entire store; J.Crew- use code MOREISMORE to save 20-40%; and 30% off at Madewell with code VERYMERRY

Abercrombie

Ready for more holiday & after-Christmas sales? We're trying on all the things for ya — including J. Crew, Madewell & Abercrombie. Cute clothes inside :-)

ONE: Sweater – I adore the colors on this. Wearing a Small. Skirt – LOVE. It’s thin, yes, but oh so adorable. If it’s too chilly out, I’ll do the OTK boots for now. I’m also gonna live in this during our trip to Florida in February. TTS. Wearing a Small.

TWO: Jeans – I’ve been looking for a good straight-leg-ish, lighter-wash pair of jeans. These are great! They are a slim cut instead of a skinny jean, so almost a straight leg. They have some stretch and are super high-rise. I’ll cut them off a bit more to show a sliver of ankle. TTS, because apparently AF jeans stretch out a little with wear.

THREE: Dress – Despite my bad-hair-day-face, this dress is so adorable. It’s sweater-y so if you’re sensitive to that it might not be for you, but I love it and am contemplating a purchase. Wearing a Small. It stretches. Size up if between sizes though.

Other details: jacket, tee, boots (my new favs)

J.Crew

Ready for more holiday & after-Christmas sales? We're trying on all the things for ya — including J. Crew, Madewell & Abercrombie. Cute clothes inside :-)

ONE: Shirt – J.Crew has the only plaid I trust this year. Haha. It’s all spot-on. Wearing size 6. Scarf – Super duper soft.

TWO: Shirt – Yet again. LOVE the pink with green here. The classic fit in these fit me better than the slim fit versions.

THREE: Tee – Perfect for NYE. I’d wear this with fancy sequin or velvet pants and heels, and call it good. Size down if you’re not layering. Wearing a Small. Shirt – Wearing size 6.

Other detailsboots (my new favs), Madewell jeans

Ready for more holiday & after-Christmas sales? We're trying on all the things for ya — including J. Crew, Madewell & Abercrombie. Cute clothes inside :-)

ONE: Sweatshirt – Love the shrunken fit. Much more wearable than the classic fit. Wide leg jeans – my current favs for something different, and the ones I have on are my own. Size up. Wearing a 28. Love wearing with cropped sweaters or doing the half tuck. Otherwise they can look dumpy. They look fabulous with sock boots or any taller, heeled boot.

TWO: Sweater – another of the coziest yarn variety. SO good. Size down. Wearing XS. Wide leg jeans – current favs for something different. Size up. Wearing a 28. Scarf – such a great color and in that same cozy yarn.

THREE: Sweater – Same as in the bright red, but here you can see the difference in size. Wearing a Small. Leggings – Well, dang. Almost gone, but these are fun. They run a little small. Wearing a Small. These waffle knit joggers are cute, too.

Other detailsboots (my new favs)

Madewell

You know my love of Madewell. Well, this day I got a migraine while trying these on. I don’t get migraines. I have no idea, but I still love their stuff. I wish I had tried on a few more pieces that day, but this was amongst the holiday shopping madness. I blame that.

Ready for more holiday & after-Christmas sales? We're trying on all the things for ya — including J. Crew, Madewell & Abercrombie. Cute clothes inside :-)

ONE: Sweater – So adorable and in that coziest yarn stuff. Which is magical. Wearing XS I think. Jeans – My favorite 9″ high rise from Madewell. The stretch on these is also magical. TTS. Wearing a 27 R. I’d get the petite length if they had them in store. Beanie – The bright red beanie trend is a little Steve Zissou, but I also kinda adore it.

TWO: Wrap top – I’ve been wanting to try this. It’s adorable. I think I’m wearing an XS here. I might go with a Small. Jeans – My favorite 9″ high rise from Madewell. The stretch on these is also magical. TTS. Wearing a 27 R. I’d get the petite length if they had them in store. Mules – I like these, but wish they were more the color of their previous version. TTS.

THREE: Coat – So cute. Love the plaid on this and I’m picky. I wish they had it in petite sizing, but it’s super warm and lovely. Tee – Their whisper cotton V neck is one of my favorite tees. Wearing XS. Jeans – My favorite 9″ high rise from Madewell. The stretch on these is also magical. TTS. Wearing a 27 R. I’d get the petite length if they had them in store. Beanie

Other details: sneakers (same shoe, different stripe color)

OK, y’all. I think I may be done for the year with all these dressing room selfies, but have no fear. After a little Christmas/New Year’s break, and lots of wine and snacks, I’ll be back and at it next year! Happy cozy family and friends time to you! If the holidays are hard for you, here is a virtual hug, and a wish for light in the new year. Much love…

xo,
L

  1. Hey Laura, I finally ordered a pair of the high rise Madewell jeans, they’re so comfy and soft but the knees are super baggy.. do you find that too?

    • Oh no! It might be the particular wash you have? I haven’t had that issue with the black and I have a pair of distressed knees and non-distressed. Wonder if the black denim is different?

    • I try on so much these days it’s really a toss up to what I keep or actually need to keep! But because of their adorableness and their very reasonable prices, I kept the skirt and striped sweater from Abercrombie. I’m still deciding on the jeans from A&F, but I’d say Abercrombie for the win on this one!
