What To Wear To Christmas Eve Service

We’ll be heading to the in-law’s in the country (and I do mean country) for Christmas, and will be going to Christmas Eve mass at the little church in town. It’s always charming and lovely, but I do hesitate a bit…as far as what to wear. Heels or dainty flats? Dressy dress or fancy pants? I love a good reason to dress it up, and Christmas is the right time to get FESTIVE AF, but I also want to be comfortable in a decidedly more laid-back environment…so, I try to hit that sweet spot — on the fancy end, but a more casual fancy (if that makes any sense at all).

What to Wear to Christmas Eve Service

I had to find that one thing that was just the right amount of *extra*…and thankfully I landed on this stunning appliquéd midi skirt from H&M. I may have let out an “eeee!” and danced a bit in my chair, as I added it to my cart and purchased that baby. Knowing that I wanted to bring it in a more casual direction, I went with a soft pullover cashmere sweater (my current favorite, btw — scored it during the Nordy sale). Even with it being a rather casual style, when paired with the fancaaay little skirt it was immediately elevated to dressy…and there’s just something so luxurious about wearing cashmere (I mean, le duh).

Now, shoes. Heels always make me feel way over-done for some reason. It doesn’t matter where or for what I’m wearing them (I think its my monstrous height), so it was almost too easy for me to go for the pretty flats. Also, the whole black-on-black thing I had going on was asking for a bit of holiday cheer, so pretty burgundy flats and crystal-drop earrings happened.

Helloooo there, Miss Fancy Pants (well, Skirt really).
