I Tried On 7 Summer Dresses From Abercrombie (Can I Keep 6?)

Okay, I’m calling it: summer 2024 is The Summer of Cute Dresses….because they are EVERYwhere. If I’m being honest, every summer is the summer of dresses (and cut-off denim shorts) for me, but this year the selection of gorgeous dresses is especially outstanding. This post all started specifically with Shana’s adorable yellow floral print linen mini dress, as featured in her Memorial Day Sale Try-On Post.

That cute lil’ mini dress led me to A&F’s epic dresses section online where I instantly fell in love with pretty much every dress they have. And before you know it…I ordered 7 different dresses (and they happen to all be on sale right now). Now my biggest dilemma is convincing myself that keeping 6 out of the 7 dresses is completely sane behavior… right, guys?? 😉  I guess I’ll just need to come up with more excuses to wear them out and about this summer.

A Try-On: 7 Cute Dresses From Abercrombie

I truly was not expecting to love as many of these dresses as I did because I really did go out of my comfort zone with some of my picks (hello bold prints, side-cutouts and drop-waist tailoring) and I intentionally wanted to try on a variety of different styles. That just made this dress try-on haul even more fun because there were so many unexpected hits. And my top pick was such a surprise to me….

1. A&F’s Drop-Waist Cutout Maxi Dress

Dress (M, TTS) | Heeled Sandals (8, TTS)

This gorgeous black patterned maxi dress was the biggest “risk-taking” option I purchased and it ended up being my favorite. I was so sure that the ‘drop-waist’ cut (along with the side cut-outs) would be unflattering on my soft lower belly area, but I loved it.

FIT NOTES: This dress fits very true to size, the fabric has a crisp, cool feel, and it has pockets! Comes in regular, petite and tall sizes. I am wearing the ‘regular’ medium size and I am 5ft7in, for reference.

2. A&F’s Mara Vest Midi Dress

Dress (M, TTS) | Slides (8, TTS)

I have Bev to thank for introducing me to this button-front denim midi dress. I saw her rocking the black version and I knew I had to have it. It’s not only incredibly flattering, it’s actually one of the most comfortable dresses of the bunch. Made from 99% cotton, 1% elastane (has the perfect amount of stretch), also in black and white.

SIDE NOTE: I’ve gotten so many compliments on these Capri slide sandals from Target. They have cushioned insoles and are extremely comfy and have over two-hundred 5 star reviews.

3. A&F’s Drop-Waist Mini

Dress (M, Runs Small) | Platform Wedges (8, TTS)

This stunning drop-waist dress was another BIG surprise win! Again, I was worried that this ‘drop-waist’ style wouldn’t be flattering to my lower belly, so I put off trying this silhouette until now. I could not believe how flattering this dress actually was, it made me feel like a million bucks. A definite keeper for me.

FIT NOTES: This was the only dress that didn’t run true to size. The waist area fits normally, but it was tight in the chest area, so bigger boob gals, beware.

4. A&F’s Linen Blend Wide-Strap Mini Dress

Dress (M, TTS) | Heels (8, TTS)

This is the dress that started it all. I saw Shana in the cute lemon print option and couldn’t click on that link faster. Then, I saw this chic white trimmed black option and gasped out-loud. This dress has some of the cutest print options I’ve seen so this summer, with subtle yet stylish designs.

FABRIC NOTES: I love that this dress is lined (in 100% cotton) it adds to the substantial high-quality feel of this dress. The outer layer is a blend of 53% linen and 47% cotton so it’s also very breathable.

5. A&F’s Mara Linen-Blend Vest Mini Dress

Dress (M, TTS) | Sandals (8, TTS)

I loved this linen vest mini dress so much I ordered it twice without realizing it, in the same color. This button-down, vest-inspired version of a mini dress is one of my favorite looks right now. It’s got a more sophisticated, tailored vibe, yet is comfortable, flattering and extremely versatile. It’s giving: ‘summer city-girl chic’ and I’m here for it.

STYLING NOTES: This dress has so much potential and looks cute with such a wide variety of footwear: flat, minimalist sandals, low-profile sneakers, wedge espadrilles, and platform sandals, just to name a few.

6. A&F’s Linen-Blend Square-Neck Column Midi Dress

Dress (M, TTS) | Heels (8, TTS)

This dress was another one I was super excited about. I initially wanted to buy the grey with black trim option but it was sold out when I was ordering (it’s since been restocked). This dress would be perfect for outdoor summer weddings, it’s a linen-cotton blend so it’s stylish also breathable.

FIT NOTES: I appreciate the adjustable wide straps and the center-back smocking that makes this dress even more easy to move in.

7. A&F’s Open-Back Trapeze Mini Dress

Dress (M, Runs Large) | Sandals (8, TTS)

This shift dress was the only one that I ended up not loving. I love the print so much, but the fit and the fabric is just not doing it for me. It is super comfortable and has pockets though!

FABRIC NOTES: This dress has an open-back fit, making it such an easy, breezy option for summer. The fabric is a lightweight 85% viscose, 15% nylon blend.

I hope you enjoyed this post! Until next time,
