You could say I’ve been a little obsessed with little black dresses recently. Whether I’m trying to find new ways to style them or just on the hunt for a new favorite, LBDs are my go-to when I want to look pulled-together without having to think too much about it. And I don’t know about you, but comfort is like…beyond necessary right now. I don’t want to wear anything that isn’t comfy and forgiving — and black dresses help me to feel somewhat normal when I’m not wearing my soft stretchy pants. (Because there’s a whole lotta black stretchy pants these days.)

An Elevated Casual Go-To: This Black Midi Dress

There are a few reasons I love this dress. Number one is the shirring. The shirring on the sides creates lines on both the front and back that can be adjusted, so there’s more coverage over your bum than with dresses that only have ruching on the front. For example, this Leith dress that we all love? The ruching on the front can’t be adjusted and the back is smooth–which is why I only have that dress in dark colors. This dress gives a little more coverage (think: cellulite coverage) because of the shirring on the sides. It can be pulled all the way down to make it longer, or it can be pulled up to make it shorter without looking funny.
