You could say I’ve been a little obsessed with little black dresses recently. Whether I’m trying to find new ways to style them or just on the hunt for a new favorite, LBDs are my go-to when I want to look pulled-together without having to think too much about it. And I don’t know about you, but comfort is like…beyond necessary right now. I don’t want to wear anything that isn’t comfy and forgiving — and black dresses help me to feel somewhat normal when I’m not wearing my soft stretchy pants. (Because there’s a whole lotta black stretchy pants these days.)

An Elevated Casual Go-To: This Black Midi Dress

There are a few reasons I love this dress. Number one is the shirring. The shirring on the sides creates lines on both the front and back that can be adjusted, so there’s more coverage over your bum than with dresses that only have ruching on the front. For example, this Leith dress that we all love? The ruching on the front can’t be adjusted and the back is smooth–which is why I only have that dress in dark colors. This dress gives a little more coverage (think: cellulite coverage) because of the shirring on the sides. It can be pulled all the way down to make it longer, or it can be pulled up to make it shorter without looking funny.

Add A Cropped Denim Jacket**

I LOVE ABLE’s cropped denim jacket (**SUSTAINABLE**) because it goes with everything–and the cropped silhouette looks especially good with tighter dresses like this one. (They’re also a company we want to support as much as we can because they give so much back…read more about their mission here. Plus the jacket is really good.)

Black Midi Dress Outfit Details

dress: Michael Stars Racerback Midi Dress (medium) this comes in a number of colors, but classic black is always my first choice . . . although that geranium red color looks pretty amazing for summer.

jacket: ABLE The Naibi Cropped Jacket (xs) – The cropped length makes this the perfect jacket to accentuate your waist and pairs really well with high-waisted jeans.

boots: Jeffrey Campbell Siren Booties – Super stretchy sock booties that come up high enough to cover sock,s but are soft enough to wear without!

sunnies: Warby Parker Raider Sunglasses – One of the best investments I’ve ever made; I hate contacts and they give a pair of glasses to someone in need for each pair purchased. (Available in prescription or non-prescription and a ton of lens colors.)

necklace: Kendra Scott Adjustable length necklace (also in gold, rose gold and vintage gold colors), key charm, and floating crystals charm (also available in the same colors). There are a TON of charms to choose from to personalize your necklace…and these make really good Mother’s Day gifts!

bracelet: Victoria Emerson’s boho bracelets make that layered look easy (and we also love her wrap bracelets).

XOXO,

Scotti
