Rachel Green, aka the ’90s fashionista and super-relatable character on Friends, gives me some serious fashion inspo. (Sidenote: I read somewhere that she actually didn’t like her ’90s style in real life?? I find that crazy because ’90s fashion is probably my favorite.)
The best part about this era of fashion is the comfort — sneaks, soft fabrics, bagginess (picture Rachel Green, TLC, Aaliyah, The Fugees, etc., in their oversized overalls), and all-around casual cool vibe. It wasn’t necessarily an era where the focus was on picking the most flattering clothes for your body type, it was more about aesthetic and wearing whatever made you feel the most YOU regardless of shape and size. No one really cared. Everything went, and everyone made their style unique to them.
So. I’ve been browsing through old Friends episodes, and found three Rachel Green outfits that feel especially relevant today. And of course, I TME-ified the outfits a bit. (And there were SO many good ones to choose from, but I just picked my faves.)
’90s Style: 3 Rachel Green Outfits (But Modern)
Rachel Green Outfit Inspo #1
The first outfit (original inspo here), is probably my top Rachel Green outfit. I love the slightly sheer top with the buttoned dress. If anyone can find a dress that’s identical to the one she wears, please let me know. I’m obsessed. I noticed for accessories she often wears a small watch, rings (specifically with stones) and sometimes a little beaded necklace.
Rachel Green Outfit Inspo #2
This look is SUPER-easy to achieve. The outfit she wore was a little bit more casual with the loose pants and graphic tee. I decided to take it up a notch and go for a trouser and a tee with a lettuce-trim. I don’t know the exact shoes she wore with this, but Airforce 1s are a ’90s essential. Comfy AND cute.
Rachel Green Outfit Inspo #3
Overalls. We either love them or absolutely hate them. I think they’re SO freakin’ cute. Rachel Green would agree, as she’s worn them a zillion times on the show in all the styles imaginable. Generally, they’re comfy and easy to move in. It’s just a denim jumpsuit, and makes putting full outfits together much easier. My favorite part of this whole look, though? The sunglasses. I absolutely love ’90s style sunglasses. Check out the outfit that inspired this look here.
Let’s bring allll the ’90s back.
