Hey hey HEY it’s back!  The much-anticipated Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!  Unlike other sales, this sale – and the reason we get so gosh darn excited about it – this sale is all about new Fall merchandise.  So those Stuart Weiztman OTK boots you’ve been saving for?  On sale.  My Rebecca Minkoff Fringe Backpack that you’ll carry for years?  On sale.  The Rag and Bone Dre jeans which hit that perfect balance between skinny and boyfriend?  On. James Perse’s sweatshirt jacket – yes, you read that correctly – is back with a better, updated fit!  It’s fitted, but made out of super soft and stretchy sweatshirt material, so it’s easy to move in (and insanely comfy).  A little pricy, even after the sale discount, but the tailoring is so good, and so versatile, that it remains one of my very top picks.

This Equipment shirt is amazing for the office (or weekend). Love the contrast pocket.  It’s nice and fitted (and much shorter than Equipment’s other shirts) so it tucks nicely.  Layers well under sweaters, too.

Vince’s cashmere poncho is fabulous for layering (or wearing alone).  I also love that it lends a sporty vibe that works with sneakers OR skirts.

The Piece I Never Knew I Needed:  Oversized Leather Vest

Admittedly, this piece is strange.  I think I love it.  I also think sometimes it looks too big.  But it’s supposed to.  And then I like it again.  I think this is simply the case of a new silhouette.  My gut instinct is YES and then I second guess myself.  It’s exactly the kind of piece I’ll kick myself later for not buying.  So I did.  Just to be safe.  #safetyfirst

Pros: Butter soft leather, a perfect camel color, and impeccable tailoring.  Looks good with virtually anything and will last forever.  Completely timeless.

Cons:  If you stick to your normal size, you won’t be able to fit a sweater underneath.  Also, $600 on sale (down from $900).

ONE

Me and my turtlenecks.  I know.  But indulge me for a sec – most layering turtlenecks are skintight, making them only good for one thing:  LAYERING.  This bad boy looks good on it’s own.  And besides, it’s high time I talked about these shoooes (with a sexy, yet totally comfortable heel height).

Autumn Cashmere has a seriously great midi dress – especially good for girls with curves.  I *tried* to show this dress off, but I’m not doing it justice.  The kind of easy piece that looks glam, and layers beautifully.

Delicious and relaxed, but needs a half-tuck to be flattering.  (Love the v-neck, though.)

This Frye bag is all kinds of amazing…but it doesn’t have a cross-body strap.  If that bugs you too, try this one instead (same color, different shape).

The Joie sweater with faux-fur trim is back!!  And updated, of course.   This piece is best used to glam up an everyday outfit for date night.  You can’t really layer anything over it, and because of the dolman sleeves, it’s hard to throw a bag over your shoulder.  But it’s perfect if you just need something quick and easy to glam your looks this winter. (Especially if you are a legging and jeans kind of girl.)
