It’s been a hot minute since I’ve searched for a new pair of winter boots. I’m talking circa 2010. I have had the same purple pair of Sorels since college, and finally decided it was time for an update. I’ve been eyeing the puffer boots trend, so, in my typical fashion, I ordered a TON of winter boots to try on because there are so many amazing options right now!
Waterproof Winter Puffer Boots: A Try-On Sesh Of 6 Cute Pairs
For me, the makings of a good boot are this: easy to put on, great traction, and comfy for my daily walks with my pup Mia. ALSO: they must be waterproof. I ordered my typical Sorel and Ugg boots first, and also gave a new (to me) boot brand a try, called Cougar. If you live in an ultra-cold climate, I would most definitely recommend giving the Cougar Wahoo boot a try — it’s a bit more rugged but so incredibly warm!
When it comes to ease of sliding on/off, these definitely weren’t it for me. I had a serious challenge trying to get these bad boys on — and for that reason, I didn’t keep them. But aside from that, they’re pretty gorgeous. They are the highest-shaft boot I tried, and I was excited that they still fit my calves. These are also waterproof and have great traction.
When I started my boot search, these were the ones I was most excited about. And while I did think they were trendy and cool, they weren’t my favorite. The boots have great puffer material, are a breeze to put on, and the velcro straps make them so easy to pop on! I think I would have liked these better in the all-black option.
These were the warmest of all the boots I tried! They are designed for ultra-cold weather and felt the most rugged of all the bunch. Cougar was a new brand for me to try and I have to say, I was very impressed with the quality and construction of this boot.
I LOVED these boots (and these were keepers for me). I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked them out of the box. When I started my hunt for the perfect boot, I was mostly attracted to puffer boots — though these aren’t puffers, they’re too good not to include. I’m obsessed with the sherpa moment here, and they give me slightly nautical vibes. These boots are waterproof, so easy to slide on/off, and have traction that is ten out of ten!
Next up, Puffy Sorels. Though it felt super-nostalgic (taking me back to my elementary school days), this boot didn’t work for me at all. They were incredibly difficult to put on and didn’t have enough traction for my liking. I do like their forest green color, though!
This boot was an absolute winner for me! Because I ended up keeping two pairs of winter boots, I ended up going with these in black for a more timeless look. I will wear these for years to come! They are ultra-comfy and cozy like OG UGGs, but these have a much more sophisticated look. They are lined with faux fur, waterproof, and super-warm, too. I’m talking keep your feet warm in -32 degree F temps, warm! If I had more room in my shoe collection, I would have kept the white and black because they are just that good! These are the perfect walking boot, and the ones I chose to bring back home to Wisconsin, too! I’ve already worn them several times here, and they are keeping me warm in the frigid climate!
