I seem to have two speeds right now: sequins and mesh or…sweatpants and workout gear. While I’ve forced myself into regular outfits a few times, mostly I’m either lounging hard or in party mode (at least sartorially — mentally, it’s a different story).
In any case, I’ve decided to lean into loungewear. I’m in the Know Thyself phase of life, and Sweatpants Without Judgment is the first rule.
I decided all of this, of course, while looking at adidas’ website. I ended up there because, quite frankly, Vuori sold out of this half-zip sweatshirt in two seconds flat, Lululemon cannot keep matching colors stocked in my fave joggers and hoodie, and Athleta doesn’t have cropped sweatshirts right now — and for some reason that’s what I decided was important.
But adidas…whoa. Adidas has elevated the jogger lifestyle to an art form, and I was humbled. I also realized where the cool girls I saw in Istanbul likely got some of their sportswear.
Which, obviously, I tried on and ordered.
Sweatpants Without Judgment: Adidas Loungewear Try-On
This is not a comprehensive list of everything that adidas does well. This is simply a list of items that caught my eye for one reason or another, and because I couldn’t freaking decide (and had spent wayyyyyy too many hours on adidas’ website), I figured that others might also be perusing these pieces and waffling.
And, in fact, this article might be a liiiiiitle frustrating because many of these pieces are now on sale and selling out quickly — clearly I’m not the only one all about loungewear right now.
With that warning…let’s go.
1. Adidas Ski Chic Line: Fleece Hoodie + High-Rise Flares
Adidas has come out with a “Ski Chic” line, and while I’m admittedly a sucker for good marketing — and therefore anything labeled “ski chic” will get a second look from me — this line is really fun.
The fleece hoodie is freaking perfection (spoiler: I’ve barely taken it off since it arrived), and the flare leggings are comfy with a really nice high rise and cool, updated look.

That said, I don’t recommend the pants in white. Not only do they show the lines of my muscles (a pet peeve while wearing pants), you can see my black underwear through them.
2. Adidas Ski Chic Line: Let’s Try It In Black
These are the exact same flare pants but in black. Love, love, love.
I’m wearing them with the cutest little track jacket (also from adidas’ Ski Chic line). It’s made from the same ribbed material as the pants, with faux fur at the collar and cuffs. The whole outfit is seriously cute and juuuuust that shy of a costume (but in a good way).
That said…while I did keep both of these pieces, I’ve yet to wear the jacket out. In hindsight (gahhhh), I think this jacket is more fun than practical. And while it does layer easily under a winter jacket, I simply haven’t worn it, which is never a good sign, so I’m hesitant to recommend it. I suspect that this adidas Ski Chic cropped hoodie would’ve been a better choice.
In any case, let’s get a rear view on those flare leggings because they’re SO GOOD. Keep in mind that I’m 5’3″, and while these pants are an inch or so too long, anyone above 5’5″ might struggle with the length.
3. Adidas’ Always Original Laced Line: The Set For Tall Gals Only
OK, tall girls — this one’s for you. I’m absolutely wild over these wide-leg pants and jacket (and they look very similar to what the Istanbul cool girls were wearing), but they’re bananas long. In the above photo, I’m balancing on my tiptoes ballerina style, but in reality it looks more like this:
WOMP, WOMP.
Somebody tall should order this lace-up set and rock the hell out of it and send me a photo, so I can live vicariously through you. Until then, I’ll just be over here…ballerina-ing.
4. Adidas Laced Line: Magic Beige (Again…Tall)
Yeah…no. Another heartbreak for shorty. Which is really very sad because A. this set is such a pretty color (literally called Magic Beige) and B. the waistband of these deeply comfortable sweatpants is flattering and PERFECT.
Ah, well.
But both pieces are available in plus sizes too (look for the Standard | Plus Size toggle right about the size selection).
I wondered if I could save the Magic Beige hoodie with a pair of leggings, and…it still strikes me as too big. I’m wearing my usual size small, so maybe size down.
hoodie | pants – plus sizes | sneakers
5. Adidas X Thebe Magugu Collab: Sportswear Meets Streetwear Meets Art
crew – plus sizes | pants – plus sizes | sneakers
Adidas’ collaboration with South African fashion designer Thebe Magugu is really good. I love when these collaborations blend the line between sportswear and streetwear, and this one is basically art. It’s also a really inclusive collab — every one of these pieces is available in plus sizes.
While I’ve sworn my allegiance to loungewear (I mean, just look at that crew and those leggings)…I will admit that this bodysuit (in the same Bird of Paradise pattern) would look ahhhh-mazing with jeans. Hmmmmmmmm.
The Verdict (What I Kept)
After tons of waffling…these two pieces are my top picks: adidas’ Ski Chic hoodie (in white) and flare leggings (in black). I’ve barely taken them off since ordering.
Anyone else all loungewear, all day? Until, of course, it’s time to go out and then…watch out.
xo,
S
