Am I becoming more suburban? I ask myself while checking my latest purchases: leggings, fleece jackets, puffer coats, and these Sorel Cate Waterproof Lace-up boots. I’m a city girl, I came from Colombia’s capital straight to NYC but then moved to the suburbs, and gosh, fashion can be so boring in the suburbs sometimes.
Most people in the winter have some version of those aforementioned pieces; the key is in the details and styling. These boots were part of my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale purchases, and after noticing how great they looked with everything I tried, I decided to keep them in my “let’s see what happens/can return later” corner, and wait for the fall to see how they’d go with my cold-weather wardrobe. I must admit I was very skeptical.
My New Comfy Mom Boots: A Review Of The Sorel Cate Waterproof Lace-up Bootie
Fast forward to recently: we decided to go to the city for the first time since March. The kids asked us to take them to Central Park, and I was crazy to see the foliage. I love wearing sneakers, but as someone petite, any opportunity to have some height is welcome, so I wore these, wondering if they’d pass the comfort test.
MAJOR SALE ALERT: Backcountry has 3 colors of Sorels for 50% off right now. If you can’t find your size and color, try Zappos (25% off) or the Sorel site (25% off), or try asking Nordstrom to match the price. Run now, thank me later.
Are The Sorel Cate Booties Comfortable?
Oh, my God! My first reaction upon walking the first part of the park was, “I feel like I’m walking on clouds.” Not a surprise when you notice they have a cushioned footbed, the outsole is flexible, and they’re very lightweight as opposed to my heavy combat boots. We parked blocks away, and I walked all day without getting tired or wanting to kick them off the minute I got back to the car. The heel is so walkable, I wouldn’t hesitate to wear them for an easy hike with the fam.

Are The Sorel Booties Warm?
The Sorel Cate is great for NY winters unless it is freezing, but I wear warm socks for the most part because my feet get cold easily. (Here at TME, we love Smartwool socks, and now even my kids have them). As per the waterproof characteristic, these boots do their job in the rain. I’m not a Hunter rain boots person unless I’m actually jumping puddles with the kids, and I love having a stylish boot that can handle the rain.

Did I Say These Boots Are Stylish?
Is this the boot I want to wear when I want to feel super stylish? Not really. I’m more of a Chelsea boot/sock boot kind of person, but this style feels fresh for my wardrobe, and when you add the comfort and waterproof factor, you can’t beat it. New comfy mom boot. Today I’m wearing them with dark wash skinny jeans, a fitted turtleneck layered under a button-down olive shirt, and they add just the perfect touch of style and comfort to my outfit. And while they’re foolproof worn with leggings and skinny jeans, the shaft height is perfect for cropped or cuffed jeans. Double win!

Choose Your Favorite Sorel Boot Color
I have the least traditional color (sold out now). However, they come in different shades, sure to work with your unique wardrobe. I was going to tell you my top three, but the truth is I love them all. It seriously depends on your wardrobe. The sand color looks very fresh, though.

Comfy mom boots indeed.
